Who is this facility a good fit for?
Best fit if: Adults who need 24/7 residential support for significant mental health concerns, including those who also have a substance use disorder; may feel more comfortable in a smaller residential population; are looking for a comfort-focused environment; want holistic activities in addition to clinical treatment; value family participation; are looking for a pet-friendly policy; and are interested in a private setting for recovery.
Not a fit if: Adults who are seeking outpatient treatment; prefer a large treatment community; desire adhering to a strict, structured daily schedule; and do not want group-based care.
What to expect
Developing your care plan
- Assessment and placement: Prior to admission, clients take part in a phone assessment, which provides a baseline for the care team to understand whether the program is appropriate. The assessment also helps influence where the client is placed for treatment.
- Building the treatment plan: During the first 7ā10 days, the clinical team further assesses the clientās needs and identifies therapeutic approaches that may best support the client. Medication adjustments are also made as needed. The clientās formal treatment plan is developed during this time and may continue to change as their recovery needs evolve.
Who you will meet with
- Clinical and care team: Clients may work with admissions specialists, case managers, psychiatric providers, nurses, and therapists during their stay at the facility. Psychiatric and nursing staff support medication management and other medical needs.
- Case management and residential support: Case managers help coordinate continuing care and support the client with practical needs such as family visits. Residential staff offer 24/7 support, including nights and weekends.
Typical schedule
- A structured weekday routine: During the morning, clients have time to take care of their morning routine and have breakfast before programming starts at 9 a.m. Clients will take part in two clinically focused groups with a break between sessions before lunch at noon. During the afternoon, clients may participate in two holistic groups until approximately 4 p.m., when the treatment day ends with a house-wide wrap-up that focuses on wins, progress, and individual goals.
- Clinical programming: Care may encompass medication management, individual therapy, educational groups, and experiential activities. This may include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), family therapy, group therapy, mindfulness, music therapy, and yoga.
- Evenings and personal downtime: After dinner, clients may take part in social or recreational activities or spend time on their own. Activities may include movies, games, art, karaoke, journaling, or watching TV. Quiet hours begin at 10 p.m.
- Family involvement and visitation: The facility welcomes involvement from family and friends and offers family or couples therapy. This may begin during the third week of treatment. Approved visits are coordinated through the case manager and require the clientās consent.
Living experiences and amenities
- Living environment and amenities: Clients will stay in a six-client home that offers private room options, common areas, outdoor spaces, coastal views with a wraparound balcony, and a Jacuzzi. Meals may be adapted for food allergies, medically modified diets, and cultural, ethnic, or religious preferences. Emotional support animals may be allowed with approval.
- Downtime and recreation: Personal time may be spent journaling, watching TV, or streaming in their rooms. Weekend outings are adjusted to meet client interests and may include beach trips, movie outings, ceramics, or bike rides along a nearby pier.
Aftercare
- Support after treatment: The facility may keep in touch after discharge to assess whether clients experience improvements in symptoms and daily functioning over time. Other aftercare options should be confirmed directly with the facility.
