Who is this facility a good fit for?

  • Best fit if: Adults who are experiencing serious or destabilizing mental health symptoms; may need crisis stabilization before transitioning into continued residential mental health treatment; want substantial daily structure; are looking for a mix of clinical and holistic programming; value a home-like coastal residential setting; have loved ones that would like to remain involved; and may have co-occurring substance use concerns.

  • Not a fit if: Adults who are specifically seeking outpatient or virtual treatment; strongly desire a private bedroom; are looking for an unstructured experience; do not want group-based treatment; and prefer a primarily substance use treatment facility.

What to expect

Developing your care plan

  • Pre-admission assessment: Prior to admission, clients undergo a phone assessment with an admissions specialist to collect medical and clinical information. This is used to determine whether treatment is appropriate and to ensure the client is placed in the facility that suits them best.
  • Individualized treatment plan: In the first 7–10 days, the clinical team spends time learning how the client responds to various therapeutic approaches, evaluates their needs, adjusts medications when appropriate, and establishes a formal care plan. After the initial 7–10 days, the client's care plan can continue to evolve with their changing needs as they progress in recovery.

Who you will meet with

  • Clinical and medical team: A psychiatrist provides psychiatric care and medication support and conducts daily evaluations during crisis stabilization. Nurses provide medical support and 24/7 monitoring during crisis stabilization. Clinical and therapeutic staff lead individual and group therapy sessions.
  • Admissions and case management: Admissions specialists help clients and families during assessment, admission, and placement, while case managers assist with coordinating continuing care and navigating practical needs.

Typical schedule

  • Structured treatment days: During the morning, clients have time to wake up, take care of personal needs, and have breakfast before two clinically focused group sessions between 9 a.m. and noon. After lunch, clients take part in two holistic groups that focus on wellness and stress reduction.
  • Evening routine: The treatment day wraps up around 4 p.m. with a house-wide check-in where clients celebrate wins, acknowledge progress, and set personal goals. After dinner, clients can choose to take part in social activities such as watching TV, karaoke, or games. Quiet time begins at 10 p.m.
  • Clinical and holistic care: Care may include group and individual therapy and evidence-based treatment styles such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). Holistic therapy may include yoga, meditation, and art therapy. Clients may receive two individual therapy sessions per week and medication management. Crisis stabilization may also include daily psychiatric evaluations. Educational programs may address anger management and coping strategies.
  • Family involvement: Family involvement is encouraged during treatment. Visits can be coordinated with the client's case manager and require the client's consent and advance approval. Communication with families is prioritized shortly after admission.

Living experiences and amenities

  • Home-like setting: Clients stay in shared bedrooms in a smaller residential home with modern, comfort-focused amenities and communal spaces for gathering. The facility also has a large backyard for relaxation or quiet time. Clients have access to a personal trainer who visits on-site.
  • Weekend outings: During the weekend, clients may go on outings that align with their interests. This may include beach trips, movie outings, ceramics or art activities, and bike rides along a nearby pier. Other experiential and nature-focused outings may also be included.

Aftercare

  • Aftercare planning: Aftercare planning is included in treatment to help clients prepare for continued support after residential care. Specific continuing care services should be confirmed directly with the facility.
  • Step-down care: Clients who complete crisis stabilization can step down to residential treatment at the same facility.
