Peer-Led, Social Model Recovery

Sun Street Centers’ Residential Recovery Program in Salinas provides a peer-led, Social Model program designed specifically for men. This approach encourages residents to learn from one another alongside certified counselors. Through daily structure, 12-step meetings, and peer accountability, men practice responsibility and rebuild habits that support lasting recovery in a stable, sober community environment.

Evidence-Based Learning and Family Connection

The program incorporates the Matrix Institute curriculum, including Early Recovery and Relapse Awareness classes, combined with recovery planning, communication training, and counseling. Family Empowerment sessions help residents strengthen relationships and repair support systems, key steps toward stability after treatment.

Restorative Setting and Real-World Skills

Located in downtown Salinas, the residence offers shared living spaces, a library, recreation areas, and three daily meals in a communal dining environment. Residents participate in volunteer activities and community events, reflecting the center’s belief that giving back is part of recovery. Life skills and job readiness support prepare men for employment and independence, while transportation and housing assistance reduce barriers to long-term success.

Inclusive, Accessible Care

Programs are available in English and Spanish. Smoking and vaping are permitted in designated areas. The program welcomes clients who use medications for addiction treatment (MAT) prescribed by external providers, coordinating that care with counseling and peer support.
