Gender-Specific Programs for Personalized Support
Sobrius provides trauma-informed residential addiction treatment at two locations in Virginia: a men’s program in Galax and a women’s program in Bassett. Each site is designed to meet the emotional and psychological needs of its population. The men’s program emphasizes communication, accountability, and rebuilding self-worth, while the women’s program offers a safe space to process trauma, rebuild confidence, and explore family and social roles in recovery. Both programs help clients open up more freely, connect meaningfully with peers, and engage more fully in care.
A Cohort Model That Builds Connection
Sobrius uses a cohort model, where clients enter treatment together and progress through the 30-day program as a group. This structure builds trust, structure, and emotional momentum. Clients aren’t just attending group therapy, they’re also part of a peer community that grows together. This approach helps normalize shared struggles, reduce stigma, and create real, lasting support and connections among participants.
Life Skills That Support Long-Term Recovery
Programming includes extensive life skills training, such as journaling, time and money management, emotional regulation, problem-solving, job readiness, and relationship skills. These are core tools for rebuilding everyday life after addiction. Sobrius connects treatment to practical goals like employment, independence, and healthy relationships, helping clients apply recovery in real-world settings.
Comfortable, Residential Settings in Two Locations
Each campus is intentionally designed to feel safe, warm, and restorative. In Galax, men live in a residential setting surrounded by trees and walking trails, with shared bedrooms, a gym, and calming therapy spaces. The Bassett facility for women offers similar home-like amenities and privacy, with a focus on emotional safety and peer support. Both settings prioritize peace, comfort, and dignity in recovery.
Medication-Supported and Flexible
Sobrius welcomes clients already prescribed medications for addiction treatment. The program supports clients maintaining MAT regimens from external providers, allowing the flexibility for clients to access residential treatment without interrupting essential care.
What Patients Say
Patients often describe the Sobrius environment as peaceful and life-affirming. Reviews highlight staff members as compassionate and deeply respectful, helping clients feel seen and valued. Many note that the program’s structure gave them the tools and confidence to make real, lasting changes. A small number of reviewers expressed concerns about the facility’s handling of serious medical needs, but the overall feedback remains strongly positive—especially from those who fully engaged with the program’s offerings.
