Women-Only Home-Like Setting in Pilot Mountain
Hope Valley’s women’s division is a residential program in Pilot Mountain, North Carolina, designed exclusively for adult women. Clients stay in a farmhouse-style home with two-person rooms, shared common areas, and nearby walking trails. The small size helps staff get to know each woman’s situation, while the peaceful small-town, mountain setting offers distance from daily triggers and space to focus on recovery.
Programs for Women Who Need Structure and Flexibility
The women’s campus serves adults with substance use disorders related to alcohol, opioids, stimulants, benzodiazepines, prescription medications, and polysubstance use. The program provides structure, daily support, and a consistent routine. Women also have the option to step into Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient (SAIOP) or Substance Abuse Comprehensive Outpatient (SACOT), which offer daytime or evening schedules for those balancing work, family, or other responsibilities.
Evidence-Based Care for Substance Use and Co-Occurring Disorders
Many clients arrive with both substance use and mental health concerns. Hope Valley treats co-occurring disorders including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and trauma-related conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Licensed and credentialed clinicians use evidence-based approaches like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, Matrix Model programming, relapse prevention work, and 12-step facilitation. The goal is to help women understand patterns, manage cravings and mood symptoms, and build skills they can use after they leave the program.
Daily Routine, Community, and Holistic Activities
Days include four therapeutic groups or classes, one-on-one counseling with female therapists, and up to five Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meetings each week. Home-cooked meals are prepared on site, and laundry service reduces day-to-day stress so clients can focus on treatment goals. Outside of groups, women can use art therapy spaces, play games, read, or spend time outdoors by the meditation pond, walking paths, and patio areas. Yoga, breathwork, and other mindfulness practices are available for those who benefit from movement and quiet reflection.
Family Engagement, Practical Support, and Aftercare
Loved ones are invited to a Family Program every other Saturday, rooted in Al-Anon and Nar-Anon principles. These sessions give family members space to learn about substance use, ask questions, and start rebuilding trust. Throughout treatment, staff offer case management, housing support, and peer mentorship to address practical issues that can affect long-term recovery. When it is time to transition out of residential care, clients work on personalized discharge plans, relapse-prevention strategies, and connections to continuing care. Weekly evening aftercare groups and ongoing family programming help women stay linked to community support.
