Who is this facility a good fit for?
Best fit if: Adults seeking substance use and co-occurring mental health treatment with step-down options; need withdrawal management (detox) and 24/7 residential care; looking for a private environment with luxurious amenities; using private insurance.
Not a fit if: Those who require acute hospital-level care for medical or psychiatric concerns; not interested in intensive daily group work; want self-directed care; have Medicaid, or are uninsured and unable to self pay.
What to expect
Developing your care plan
- First 72 hours: For clients who need detox, the immediate focus is on medical stabilization. Staff perform assessments, make sure clients get the right medications, and make them as comfortable as possible during withdrawal management.
- Care adapted to individual needs: Treatment plans are tailored to clients’ needs, goals, and personal situation. The core team meets every morning to discuss clients and adjust plans as needed to make sure everyone is getting the most out of their treatment.
- Tech balance for professionals: The program works with clients on external obligations. If someone needs 30 minutes to check work emails or attend an online class, they coordinate with case managers to make that happen.
“It's one thing to provide evidence-based treatment… and that's what we do. But beyond that, we're really looking at the individual who's coming in... how can we specifically address those issues more than a carbon copy of each person getting treatment.” — Dr. Alison Tarlow, Psy.D, Chief Clinical Officer”
Who you will meet with
- Doctors and nurses: The medical team is available 24/7 to provide medical care and medication management.
- Trained therapists: A primary therapist who manages a small caseload of about eight clients to support a personalized relationship, along with master’s-level clinicians who run daily groups.
- Case managers: Clients work directly with a case manager who helps handle non-clinical needs such as FMLA leave. Phones are restricted, but clients with outside obligations (work email, online school) may receive scheduled, supervised laptop access.
- Alumni and client care coordinators: Dedicated staff members whose sole role is maintaining long-term connection after clients leave.
“You have this personalized relationship with your caseload therapist who you really get to know, and they get to know you. In addition to having groups with that therapist, you're also having groups with the other therapists and group facilitators — so you're getting a nice, well-rounded experience, while also working hand in hand with a case manager.” — Dr. Alison Tarlow, Psy.D, Chief Clinical Officer
Typical schedule
- Morning routines: Clients wake up between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. After that, it’s medication time for those who need it, followed by breakfast.
- All-day intensive focus: Active therapeutic work runs from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm and includes frequent groups and daily individual therapy. More intensive therapeutic sessions occur twice per week.
- Traditional and holistic approaches: To complement evidence-based therapy such as CBT and DBT, activities include yoga, mindfulness, art, and music therapy.
- Free time: After therapy hours, clients can relax, spend time with peers, or watch TV in their rooms.
- Evening 12-step groups: To help close out the day, 12-step (AA/NA) speakers and community groups often host meetings at the center to connect with clients and provide ongoing support.
Living experiences and amenities
- Shared spaces for connection: These include lounges and outdoor spaces, as well as a media room and fitness center.
- Meals: Private, in-house chefs prepare fresh meals for clients every day. Nutrition therapy is offered to get clients on the path to healthy eating.
- Movie theater: Clients can go to the in-house movie theater to watch films together in the evenings.
Aftercare
- Full continuum of care: The availability of withdrawal management, residential care, and outpatient programs on-site allows clients to move between care levels depending on their progress and needs.
- Support at home: If someone needs to return home right away, staff can identify local providers in their zip code for continued support.
- Alumni program: The facility hosts weekly Zoom alumni groups and maintains private social media pages where former clients can stay connected and support one another.
