Who is this facility a good fit for?

  • Best fit if: Adults who need 24/7 residential treatment, on-site detox, or outpatient care; want a 12-step-based program; looking for community connections and peer support; have co-occurring mental health concerns; using private insurance, Medicaid, TRICARE, or can self-pay.

What to expect

Developing your care plan

  • Admissions: Before treatment starts, staff assess clients’ substance use history, including withdrawal management (detox) needs, and screen for co-occurring mental health conditions. This helps determine the correct level of care and shapes the care plan accordingly.
  • Counselor assignment: Clients are paired with an individual counselor who they’ll stay with throughout treatment. A team of clinicians collaborates with clients to fine-tune care to individual needs. Plans are assessed and can be adjusted as needed.

Who you will meet with

  • Doctors and nurses: Care for clients during withdrawal management and throughout the treatment process.
  • Therapists: Licensed substance use counselors work with clients both one-on-one and in group sessions. Family therapy is also offered for those that want it.
  • Psychiatrists: Attend to clients with co-occurring mental health conditions.

Typical schedule

  • Structured days: Mornings include breakfast and check-ins with nurses between 7:30 a.m.and 8:30 a.m. Groups start at 9:00 a.m. and run until 5:00 p.m., with breaks in between. Lunchtime is between 11:45 a.m. and 1:15 p.m., and dinner is served from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
  • Group and individual therapy: At least three group sessions are held each day in residential treatment, along with at least one individual therapy session per week.
  • 12-step work: Clients attend 12-step meetings every day and receive education and guidance on 12-step principles.

Living experiences and amenities

  • Dorm-style accommodations: Mount Regis Center is set in a renovated historic estate with 68 beds. Clients share an air-conditioned bedroom with one other person.
  • Holistic and outdoor activities: To complement evidence-based therapies, clients can participate in yoga, as well as art and music therapy. Clients also get together for team building activities such as a ropes course.
  • Group outings: After their first 14 days of treatment, clients can take part in group outings. These include trips to community parks and the YMCA, gym visits, movie excursions, and bowling.

Aftercare

  • Step-down care: Clients can step up or down between withdrawal management, residential treatment, and outpatient programs, including partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP), as their needs evolve.
  • Long-term connections: Mount Regis Center provides three months of complimentary aftercare after a client graduates from treatment. This can include group therapy and one-on-one therapy as needed. Long-term, clients can stay connected through alumni events and are encouraged to continue with local 12-step meetings.
