Who is this facility a good fit for?

  • Best fit if: Adults who need medical detox and residential treatment for substance use disorders; benefit from a highly structured daily schedule with frequent group therapy and recovery meetings; enjoy outdoor recreation and nature-based activities as part of recovery; seeking a continuum of care that may include detox, residential treatment, and step-down services within the same organization; value peer support, 12-step recovery, and a community-oriented living environment.

  • Not a fit if: Individuals seeking private-room-only accommodations; looking for a luxury resort-style program with extensive spa amenities; prefer a highly independent schedule with minimal group participation; prefer a recovery approach that does not incorporate 12-step support; seeking an executive program designed to accommodate full-time work responsibilities during treatment.

What to expect

Developing your care plan

  • Assessment and admission: A clinical assessment is done before admission where the clinical care team determines placement and level of care needed. Clients needing detox are medically monitored before moving into residential treatment.
  • Ongoing treatment planning: Case managers, counselors, and therapists review progress regularly and work with the individual on a continued basis to adjust care plans as needed.

Who you will meet with

  • Clinical team: Therapists, counselors, case managers, and behavioral health technicians (BHTs) offer therapy, create treatment plans, manage cases, and provide daily recovery support.
  • Medical team: Nurses, nurse practitioners, doctors, and psychiatrists provide medical care. They manage medications, monitor withdrawals, and offer mental health treatment.
  • Recovery support staff: Recovery support staff help clients with 12-step resources and peer support.

Typical schedule

  • Morning and midday: Clients wake up at 7 a.m. They have breakfast, take any needed medications, and join three therapy groups before lunch. Programming may involve therapist-led sessions, recovery education, and group talks. There will be breaks between each group.
  • Afternoon and evening: After lunch, clients take part in three more therapy groups. They can also enjoy outdoor breaks and recreational activities. Evenings usually consist of dinner, a recovery meeting like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA), taking medication when needed, and some downtime. Lights out is around 10:30 p.m.
  • Therapeutic approaches: A variety of evidence-based and recovery-focused therapies are used during treatment. These can include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), trauma-informed counseling, substance use counseling, individual therapy, group therapy, holistic activities, and the 12-step program.

Living experiences and amenities

  • Living accommodations: Clients stay in cabin-style residences with semi-private rooms and typically one roommate. Each cabin has four to five bedrooms, a shared common area, and a small kitchenette. The environment is intended to be community-oriented. The campus has a dedicated chef and kitchen staff onsite to prepare meals.
  • Recreation and amenities: Recreational options include hiking, nature walks, fishing, fitness equipment, movies, streaming television services, board games, and common areas for relaxation and socializing. Clients also have access to a stocked fishing pond with staff-lead outings.

Aftercare

  • Step-down options: Clients can move to partial hospitalization (PHP), outpatient services, or other care options offered by the organization.
  • Recovery support: The facility offers recovery support in the form of evening 12-step meetings during treatment, introduction to AA and NA resources, and peer support as a means of continuing care after recovery.

Pre-Admissions Experience

When we contacted Harmony Ridge Recovery Center, the representative was easy to reach, knowledgeable, and transparent. They provided detailed information about treatment, accommodations, daily programming, and costs while maintaining a supportive, low-pressure approach. The conversation felt informative and focused on helping us understand the program rather than encouraging an immediate admission decision.
