Evidence-Based Care and MAT
Treatment is grounded in evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, the Matrix Model, trauma-related counseling, and 12-step facilitation. Clients participate in individual and group counseling, education about substance use, and relapse prevention planning. For some, medications for addiction treatment (MAT) may be included, along with medications for mental health conditions and nicotine replacement to support tobacco cessation.
Support for Co-Occurring Mental Health Needs
Many men arrive with both substance use and mental health concerns. Hope Valley offers integrated care for co-occurring disorders, addressing conditions such as depression, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), bipolar disorder, and anger-related concerns alongside substance use. Licensed counselors and mental health providers work together so clients do not have to navigate separate systems to address their emotional health and substance use at the same time.
12-Step And Peer Guidance
Twelve-step philosophy is woven into daily life at Hope Valley Men’s Division. Men attend multiple small groups and 5 weekly Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meetings, using the 12 steps as a framework to explore honesty, accountability, and making amends. Many staff and peer leaders have lived experience in recovery, modeling how to work a program over time. Clients practice sharing their stories, giving and receiving feedback, and building a sober support network they can rely on after discharge.
Practical Services for Life Beyond Treatment
Hope Valley connects treatment to everyday stability. After residential care, clients may step down into Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient (SAIOP) or Substance Abuse Comprehensive Outpatient (SACOT) while working or reconnecting with family. The program offers case management, housing and transportation assistance, peer support, life skills, and links to off-site employment assistance and education resources. On-site health education, spiritual support, HIV and hepatitis education, and self-help groups are available.
Aftercare and Ongoing Family Involvement
Staff provide discharge planning, outcome follow-up, and evening aftercare groups so clients can stay connected to support. Bi-weekly family programming invites loved ones to learn about substance use, practice new communication tools, and take part in the healing process. These ongoing groups and touchpoints are designed to help men maintain progress as they move back into home, community, and work life.
