Who is this facility a good fit for?

  • Best fit if: Adults who need medically supervised detox and residential substance use treatment in one setting; want co-occurring mental health support; prefer a more private, comfort-oriented environment with private rooms and bathrooms; value a structured daily schedule with strong group therapy, plus individual, family, and trauma-focused therapy; want both 12-step and non-12-step support; want to stay in contact with loved ones or maintain limited work responsibilities through a cell phone–friendly program; have private insurance or can self pay.

  • Not a fit if: Those who want outpatient-only care; prefer a fully unplugged treatment setting without personal devices; want a gender-specific or highly specialized program; need clearly documented long-term step-down care within the same facility after residential treatment; or want to use Medicaid or Medicare.

What to expect

Typical schedule

  • Structured days: Treatment is structured, but not overly rigid, and clients participate in group therapy throughout the day, while still having time to themselves.
  • Therapeutic programming: Group therapy is the core of treatment, with about 6 hours of group sessions daily. Clients also meet with their therapist multiple times per week.
  • Daily rhythm: A typical day begins as early as 5:00 a.m. with medication management, and continues until about 10:00 p.m. on weekdays and 11:00 p.m. on weekends, though clients can rest earlier.
  • Technology and visitation: The facility is cell phone–friendly, clients can stay in contact with family throughout treatment, weekly outings are offered, and weekend visitation is allowed on Sundays with therapist approval.

Developing your care plan

  • Admissions assessment: After arrival, staff answer questions, provide a tour, and complete assessments to better understand each client’s physical, mental, and substance use needs.
  • Individualized treatment planning: The facility develops a treatment plan based on each client’s needs rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. Progress is measured using individualized treatment goals, and plans are adjusted throughout treatment.
  • Detox services: Detox is medicated and depends on clinical need. Detox may last about 3 to 14 days before clients continue in residential care.

Who you will meet with

  • Doctors and nurses: Medical staff provide monitoring during detox, medication support, and ongoing medical oversight.
  • Licensed therapists and counselors: Individual and group therapy are led by licensed social workers, clinical counselors, and drug and alcohol counselors.
  • Behavioral technicians and recovery advocates: Clients also receive day-to-day support from behavioral health technicians and recovery advocates who help bridge communication between clients and staff.
  • Additional wellness support: Weekly yoga is available with an instructor as part of the facility’s holistic offerings.

Living experiences and amenities

  • Private, comfort-forward setting: Clients stay in private bedrooms with private bathrooms on a 14-acre property designed to feel comfortable.
  • Meals and daily living: Chef-prepared meals are served on a regular schedule, with alternatives available for dietary restrictions. Housekeeping helps with linens, room cleaning, and common-area upkeep, and staff can assist with toiletries and personal items.
  • Recreation opportunities: Clients have access to a gym, basketball, volleyball, walking grounds, and indoor recreation such as pool, foosball, and reading spaces. Personal devices are allowed, which can help clients stay connected with loved ones and, when appropriate, continue remote work.

Aftercare

  • Planning for next steps: As treatment progresses, staff help clients prepare for continued support after residential care.
  • Follow-up care: Staff help clients locate outpatient providers and therapists in each client’s hometown and insurance network, and may make appointments before discharge.
  • Ongoing recovery support: Aftercare planning includes outpatient treatment, support meetings, and relapse prevention planning.

Pre-Admissions Experience

We conducted a series of pre-admissions calls, the most recent on March 24, 2026 to evaluate response time, transparency, and patient experience.

When we reached out to Keystone Retreat Behavioral Health, the admissions representative was helpful and informative. They noted that Keystone typically does not have a waitlist and can usually admit clients on the timeline they need.
