Flexible outpatient care

Wavecrest offers a range of outpatient treatment options so clients can access various levels of care while continuing to live at home. The PHP is the most intensive option, with clients attending programming 6 or more hours a day for 5 days a week. In the IOP, clients attend structured treatment multiple days per week, including individual, group, and family therapy, along with integrated care for co-occurring mental health disorders. Standard outpatient treatment is also available, with therapy sessions once or twice a week. Clients can also receive ongoing mental health support and medications for addiction treatment (MAT) when clinically appropriate.

Addiction treatment integrated with care for co-occurring mental health and trauma-related concerns

Substance use is treated alongside mental health conditions like anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and borderline personality disorder. Treatment may include traditional therapy approaches like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and trauma-informed care alongside skill-building workshops, mindfulness, and reflection. MAT can be used when appropriate.

Virtual treatment options for greater accessibility

Clients wishing to balance recovery with work, school, or home responsibilities have various virtual options. The facility offers a virtual IOP for California residents with multiple sessions per week, as well as specialized virtual IOP tracks for alcohol use, working professionals, and anxiety and depression.

Family involvement, group work, and other support alongside individual counseling

Family therapy and participation can help strengthen connections between clients and their families and build supportive relationships. Clients also participate in groups with topics including relapse prevention, triggers, and coping strategies. Dedicated case managers and a personal treatment team offer additional personalized support.

Ongoing peer and alumni support after formal treatment

Clients can receive ongoing support through weekly alumni community meetings, ongoing peer connections, and a recovery app. These options allow clients to remain connected after completing structured programming.

How we research treatment facilities

Across the site, our team has conducted over 1,000 pre-admissions calls to better understand the patient experience, interviewed facility clinical leaders, performed facility background checks, and compared our information against trusted public data sources.

Our research process begins with data from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), accrediting bodies including The Joint Commission and CARF, government licensing agencies, and other trusted sources. From there, our team conducts significant original research, including:

- Pre-admissions calls: We speak with admissions staff to get a candid picture of patient experience.

- Background checks: We review complaints from past clients, media reports, actions taken by accrediting bodies, and positive recognition from notable organizations.

- Clinical interviews: We have in-depth conversations with clinical leadership, often lasting up to one hour, that give us a better understanding of clinical care.

- Data partnerships: We ingest and analyze exclusive data that provides information about in-network insurance status, cost, and more.

Research varies by facility. Each facility profile shows which research steps we completed and when each step was last performed. Learn more about our research process and background checks.

How we evaluate treatment facilities

These data help us develop a Trust Score for each facility—a simple letter grade that helps you assess how much confidence to place in a facility based on the information available to us. Trust Score considers accreditation, operating history, notable recognition, and concerns identified during our background check. Our Trust Score is an objective rating that is never influenced by advertiser payment. Learn more about our Trust Score methodology.
