Women’s Residential Program With 24/7 Care

Demeter House provides intensive residential treatment exclusively for women, including those who are pregnant or postpartum. Located in Arlington, Virginia, the program offers a structured, community-based setting with around-the-clock medical oversight, allowing women to focus on recovery among peers with shared experiences.

Trauma-Informed Therapy and Evidence-Based Counseling

Treatment is grounded in evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy, relapse prevention, motivational interviewing, and twelve-step facilitation. Trauma-informed care is central to the program, helping women address both substance use and the life experiences that shape it. Core services include individual and group counseling, psychoeducation, and daily exercise to build healthy coping routines.

Medications for Addiction Treatment With Clinical Oversight

When appropriate, the program incorporates medications for addiction treatment (MAT) to reduce relapse risk and support stabilization. Options may include buprenorphine or naltrexone for opioid use disorder, and acamprosate or disulfiram for alcohol use disorder. MAT is provided alongside counseling and behavioral therapies to strengthen long-term recovery.

Recovery Supports and Aftercare Services

Demeter House extends treatment beyond the residential stay with services that promote long-term stability. Family counseling, mental health care, case management, and health education are available, along with housing support, employment counseling, and transportation assistance. Aftercare planning, naloxone education, and alumni programming connect women to community-based support after discharge.
