Who is this facility a good fit for?
Best fit if: Adults and adolescents seeking a residential setting with substantial outdoor access and nature-based activities; people interested in holistic and experiential approaches; individuals with co-occurring substance use and mental health conditions; those who value multiple recovery pathways, including 12-Step, faith-based, and Dharma Recovery programming; and clients seeking a continuum of care from withdrawal management (detox) through residential treatment and PHP.
Not a fit if: Adults seeking a very small program; individuals who prefer exclusively evidence-based clinical programming without holistic or experiential elements; people looking for luxury private accommodations; and those seeking a fully outpatient treatment experience.
What to expect
Developing your care plan
- Initial assessment: Upon admission, patients meet with the attending physician for initial treatment recommendations based on immediate medical and clinical needs.
- First 72 hours: Treatment is actively reassessed and adjusted as staff gather additional information and observe progress during the initial three days.
- Ongoing treatment plan: Care plans are tailored to the individual and take into account substance use history, mental health needs, clinical progress, presence of co-occurring disorders, and input from the clinical and medical teams. Plans evolve throughout treatment through ongoing sessions between clients and their care team.
Who you will meet with
- Primary counselor: Clients work with a primary counselor who helps them track treatment progress and addresses questions and concerns in addition to helping coordinate discharge and transition planning.
- Core treatment team: In addition to the primary counselor, individuals regularly interact with the attending physician, therapists, case workers, and a dedicated psychiatric team that supports mental health and related medication needs while substance use treatment is taking place.
Typical schedule
- Clinical programming: During treatment, clients' daily schedules can include meetings with their primary counselor, individual therapy sessions, group therapy and recovery groups that may be faith-based or Dharma Recovery style, medical appointments with the attending physician, psychiatric appointments and mental health treatment, or case management and discharge planning activities.
- Holistic and wellness activities: A variety of holistic and wellness activities and therapies are available to clients including wilderness therapy, BioSound therapy (a holistic treatment that combines sound frequency healing, vibroacoustic therapy, and guided meditation to relax the nervous system), nature-based group experiences, yoga, fitness activities, acupuncture, and other outdoor recreation.
Living experiences and amenities
- Housing and room arrangements: Clients stay in shared, air conditioned rooms with shared bathrooms. Men and women are housed separately in this comfortable campus-style residential setting that usually has 45 to 55 clients at a time.
- Amenities and recreation: The 40-acre wooded campus features extensive outdoor amenities, including walking trails, recreation areas, a basketball court, gardens, a campfire area, and wilderness-based activities.
Aftercare
- Discharge planning: Clients work with their primary counselor and case management team to develop discharge plans, arrange continuing treatment, coordinate support services, and prepare for more independence.
- PHP transition: If there is a waitlist for PHP, current residential patients are added to the PHP waitlist early and can transition directly as soon as they are clinically ready.
- Additional recovery support: Aftercare programming can include alumni activities and reunions, support meetings, continuing group therapy, and professional re-entry support to help clients maintain their recovery path upon discharge.
