Affordable Treatment and Community Connection

The center offers a full continuum of low-cost, non-hospital substance use treatment, including care for co-occurring conditions. The structured residential program is designed to be accessible and offers separate accommodations and group meals for men and women. Movie nights and karaoke are held on weekends for some fun downtime. Clients can choose to stay for up to 21 days in residential care. Staff regularly visit areas in the local community to speak about recovery related topics.

Emphasis on Group Support

Group support is a key pillar of the center’s treatment approach. Clients attend three to four group sessions each day, focusing on topics including addiction’s effect on the brain, harm reduction, relapse prevention, mental health, nutrition, and mindfulness. Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA) 12-step meetings are held onsite every night, providing strong peer support and connection. Group sizes are often large, which can work well for clients who function well in communal environments.

Focus on Whole-Family Healing

Family care is emphasized through weekly family group therapy sessions, accommodating multiple families at once, as well as weekly family education groups. This structure allows members of different families to learn from each other’s experiences and share stories and strategies, increasing the knowledge and insight of everyone involved. Outside of family sessions, clients in residential care can stay in touch with their loved ones by phone during established times, and are able to write letters.

Adapted Aftercare and Discharge Planning

Before discharge, every client works with care staff to develop an aftercare plan that works for their individual needs. Plans may include help with Oxford House placements and connections to community support groups, along with job assistance and life skills training to help clients lead more stable lives and reintegrate them into the community with confidence.

Patient Perspectives

Clients appreciate ARCA’s highly structured group programming and the clarity it provides during treatment, noting its effectiveness in building a foundation for staying substance-free. Some clients report the larger group sessions not being a good fit for them, as well as limitations in one-on-one therapy. Others emphasize the staff’s dedication and the value of the program’s practical, community-based recovery approach.
