Residential care for adolescent girls
Care is provided in a structured residential environment designed primarily around the needs of female adolescents ages 11 to 17 and may include 5 to 6 treatment hours each day. This may include individual, group, and family therapy, in addition to life-skills programming that helps support daily routines and independence. Medication management may also be available through board-certified psychiatrists when determined to be appropriate.
School support during treatment
An education liaison with the organization supervises and supports schoolwork while coordinating with each client's therapist to create a learning environment that helps the client succeed. This allows academic needs to be supported alongside clinical care. This is also intended to help clients continue working toward their academic goals and prepare for a transition back to their home school after residential treatment.
Therapy and skill-building activities
Measurement-based care may include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), exposure and response prevention (ERP), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). Clients may also take part in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), motivational interviewing, meditation, mindfulness, expressive art, and music therapy. Additionally, yoga, gardening, and life skills activities may be available to help clients practice new skills they have developed outside talk therapy.
Family and post-treatment support
Families take part in weekly sessions during care. Family involvement may also include weekly homework assignments, family therapy, support meetings, psychoeducation, and pharmacology groups. Upon completing formal treatment, former clients and family members have access to online and in-person support groups, alumni events, educational resources, and an alumni app. Discovery365, a program that uses digital check-ins and assessments to monitor emotional and behavioral well-being, is available at no cost during a client’s first year after treatment to help identify when additional support may be needed.
