Who is this facility a good fit for?

  • Best fit if: Adults and adolescents who are seeking residential substance use treatment with on-site medical support; may benefit from a structured treatment environment; interested in continuing-care planning that begins at admission; desire a facility that supports specialized programming for different populations; and who want treatment followed by an organized step-down plan.
  • Not a fit if: Adults or adolescents seeking a program that requires them to remain in treatment; youth who prefer not to attend 12-Step or other sober-support meetings, need unrestricted phone access, or want frequent, unstructured family visits; and adults or youth who need step-down services on the same campus.

What to expect

Developing your care plan

  • Intake and assessment: Prior to admission, clients take part in an intake call to discuss their needs and determine the appropriateness of the program. For adolescents, this includes the client and their family. A clinical review considers treatment and medical needs, the appropriate level of care, and insurance. During admission, staff complete an approximately one-hour intake that includes consent forms and other paperwork.
  • Treatment planning: A personalized care plan and discharge planning both begin on the first day of treatment. The treatment team recommends the next level of care during the client's residential stay based on ongoing reevaluation of the plan and the client's needs as they recover.

Who you will meet with

  • Clinical and medical team: A primary therapist provides individual therapy and supports clients by overseeing the core aspects of their treatment. Family therapists provide dedicated family therapy. The on-campus medical center has full-time physicians and nurses who are available to support clients 24/7.
  • Admissions and care coordination: Clinical and admissions staff guide the initial admissions process. During treatment, clients work with continuing care coordinators to plan for care after discharge. In the youth program, the client's primary therapist works with the student's home school guidance counselor to coordinate academics.

Typical schedule

  • Treatment and specialized programs: Clients receive weekly individual therapy in addition to experiential or adventure therapy available on campus. Care may also include clinical groups, family therapy, and 12-Step or other support meetings. The schedule and frequency vary by program. Specialized programming includes adolescent treatment, young adult programs, services for older adults, and options for professionals, executives, and people with chronic pain.
  • Adolescent program: The adolescent residential program has a maximum of 12 clients, with three age- and gender-specific clinical groups taking place every day in addition to one hour of fitness and evening 12-Step or other support meetings. Clients receive weekly individual and family therapy. Each weekday, they spend approximately 1.5 hours on schoolwork. During the first 10 days, electronics are unavailable outside of schoolwork. After the blackout period, clients may earn up to one hour of phone time per day with their primary therapist's approval.

Living experiences and amenities

  • Campus and room arrangements: The facility sits on a 120-acre campus with an on-site medical center. Outdoor space is also used for experiential and adventure activities. Youth stay in semi-private rooms shared by two clients. Room arrangements and daily schedules may differ by program.
  • Wellness amenities: Fitness facilities on the campus include cardio and weight-training equipment. Basketball and volleyball may also be available. The youth program schedules about one hour of fitness each day.

Aftercare

  • Continuing care: A continuing care coordinator works with clients to identify appropriate next steps in care. These may include a partial hospitalization program (PHP), an intensive outpatient program (IOP), sober living, or standard outpatient therapy through the organization's broader network.
  • Alumni support: Upon completing treatment, clients may be able to connect with the organization's broader alumni network through virtual and in-person opportunities as well as local recovery ambassadors.
