Who is this facility a good fit for?
Best fit if: Adult men seeking a small, highly individualized residential treatment experience; individuals who want a strong 12-Step recovery culture combined with clinical therapy and mental health support; people interested in adventure-based recovery activities, and other outdoor experiences; those with a history of relapse who may benefit from increased staff attention and low therapist caseloads; individuals looking for a full continuum of care that can include detox, residential treatment, PHP, IOP, sober living, and alumni support.
Not a fit if: Women seeking residential treatment, as residential services are limited to men; individuals looking for a non-12-Step treatment environment; people who prefer a large campus with extensive luxury amenities rather than a smaller, relationship-focused setting; those seeking a highly independent treatment experience with minimal peer engagement or community involvement.
What to expect
Developing your care plan
- Before arrival: An initial phone pre-assessment goes over substance use and mental health history as well as previous treatment experience. The clinical director reviews this information before admission is approved.
- Intake process: Upon arrival, a more comprehensive assessment is conducted that addresses mental health and substance use concerns, personal history, treatment goals, and clinical need
- Individualized care plans: Therapists work with the individual to develop a personalized care plan and continually evaluate progress throughout treatment. Goals are built around clinical assessments, personal recovery priorities, mental health needs as well as family and outside-provider input when approved by the client. This can include decisions about moving from residential to PHP or IOP.
Who you will meet with
- Clinical team: Clients work with a primary therapist throughout treatment, counselors, and an on-site clinical director. Together they provide individual therapy, group therapy, treatment planning, progress reviews, and recovery support during treatment.
- Medical and psychiatric team: A medical director or physician, psychiatric providers, and nurses help guide medical care, medication management, mental health treatment, and health needs during treatment.
- Recovery support and case management team: Case managers, adventure therapy staff, alumni coordinators, and peer support personnel help clients in several ways. They build recovery skills, join in experiential activities, access resources, plan for life after treatment, and create long-term support networks for recovery.
Typical schedule
- Adventure Trek and program schedule: Adventure activities take place on Tuesdays and Saturdays off campus and may include swimming, river rafting, horseback riding, ziplining, and skiing or snowboarding in winter months. Programming for PHP and IOP typically occur Monday through Friday from about 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
- Recovery community and peer support: Clients are expected to regularly attend local AA and NA meetings. This provides an opportunity to engage with the local recovery community and to build relationships with sponsors and recovery peers.
- Evidence-based therapy: The facility combines evidence-based methods like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), EMDR, trauma-focused therapies, family therapy, and relapse prevention counseling.
- Experiential and holistic treatment: Programming includes 12-Step principles, peer support, yoga, music experiences, and other holistic methods to support long-term recovery. Clients might also get medications for addiction treatment (MAT), psychiatric medication management, and take part in individual or group therapy.
Living experiences and amenities
- Living accommodations: Clients experience a small, relationship-focused treatment environment staying in air-conditioned private or shared rooms.
- Recreation, wellness, and outdoor environment: Wellness is a key focus with clients having access to an on-site gym, basketball and volleyball courts, and outdoor gathering spaces that include walking trails through wooded areas surrounding the facility.
Aftercare
- Full range of care: The program is designed so clients can move from detox and residential treatment through outpatient care and sober living while staying connected to the same recovery community, staff, and peer network.
- Recovery support services: The facility provides housing support and employment counseling in addition to vocational services, continuing care, and discharge planning.
