Hospital-Based Mental Health and Addiction Treatment
Alvarado Parkway Institute (API) delivers structured treatment for adults and older adults in a clinical setting just outside San Diego. With a focus on psychiatric care and co-occurring substance use disorders, API offers a full continuum of services, from 24-hour inpatient hospitalization to partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient programming (IOP). This hospital-based model supports clients who need more intensive stabilization alongside outpatient step-down care.
Evening and Daytime IOP to Support Responsibilities
API’s intensive outpatient programs are available in morning, afternoon, and evening tracks, allowing individuals with mild to moderate symptoms to engage in structured care while maintaining work and other responsibilities. The evening IOP meets three times a week and emphasizes goal-focused therapy, helping clients integrate recovery strategies into everyday life. Round-trip transportation and meals during sessions reduce logistical barriers to attending care.
Multilingual and Accessible Services
Recognizing the diverse needs of the community, API offers programming in English and Spanish and provides sign language interpretation for clients who are deaf or hard of hearing. This inclusive approach extends to care coordination and family involvement, supporting a more personalized treatment experience.
Whole-Person Support and Financial Accessibility
To support recovery beyond clinical treatment, API offers psychoeducation for families, smoking cessation resources, and nutritional support during IOP care. Financial assistance is available for eligible clients, and most major insurance plans, including Medicare, Medicaid, and TRICARE, are accepted. A cost estimator helps individuals plan for care with greater transparency.
Client Reviews
Reviews reflect a wide range of experiences. Many praise the outpatient program for its compassionate staff, supportive peer environment, and impactful group therapies. Clients often feel personally seen and valued.
