Who is this facility a good fit for?

  • Best fit if: Adults seeking a highly structured residential environment with programming from wake-up to bedtime; benefit from a schedule-driven approach with limited downtime; need detox and residential treatment in one location; are veterans, active-duty military, or first responders seeking trauma-informed and military-specific support; want LGBTQ+ affirming or Christian recovery tracks integrated into treatment; have co-occurring mental health concerns including PTSD, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, or trauma; prefer a large outdoor campus with experiential therapies and recreational programming; or are looking for medications for addiction treatment (MAT) support for opioid or alcohol use disorders.

  • Not a fit if: Those seeking luxury-style accommodations or highly private residential experiences; prefer mostly self-directed or unstructured treatment days; strongly prefer private rooms; are looking for a small program with extensive downtime; or need Medicare coverage.

What to expect

Developing your care plan

  • Admissions and assessment: Before admission, clients are screened for medical necessity and insurance verification. They also go through a comprehensive substance use and mental health assessment and psychiatric social assessment. A nursing evaluation is performed in addition to reviewing physician history and a physical exam is performed.
  • Treatment planning: Treatment plans are individualized, with no two individuals having the same care experience. Plans are built after detox and a full clinical assessment, then evolve throughout treatment based on progress and review by medical and behavioral health teams.

Who you will meet with

  • Medical and clinical providers: Clients may work with primary, group, and family therapists, psychiatrists and behavioral health technicians, physicians, addiction specialists, and recovery support staff during treatment. During detox, clients receive 24/7 nursing support and daily visits from physicians in addition to medication management support. Detox usually lasts 3 to 10 days depending on substance use and withdrawal severity.
  • Specialized support staff: Veterans and military clients may also work with staff trained in trauma-and-military informed care through PsychArmor “Veteran Ready” certification programming. Treatment groups are led by master’s-level clinicians and MAT is overseen by a dedicated medical director.

Typical schedule

  • Morning and midday: Residential care follows a highly structured daily schedule with programming taking place from wake-up to bedtime with minimal downtime throughout the day. Morning programming may include breakfast, community and process groups, psychoeducation sessions, and 12-step or recovery meetings. This is followed by midday group therapy, skills training, individual therapy sessions, psychiatric appointments, and lunch.
  • Afternoon and evening: Afternoon schedules may include evidence-based therapy groups, trauma-focused therapy, relapse prevention counseling, and experiential therapies. Evenings typically include dinner, wellness activities, reflection or study periods, in addition to recovery meetings and additional group therapy.

Living experiences and amenities

  • Campus environment: Treatment takes place on a large Texas Hill Country campus with walking trails and outdoor recreation areas to provide a more nature-focused recovery environment. Outdoor access and experiential programming are intended to provide an active recovery setting.
  • Residential life and amenities: Clients typically stay in shared rooms with two people per room. Valuables can be secured with staff. Amenities and recreational activities can include a rock climbing wall, ropes course, fitness center, mini golf, pool access, equine therapy, yoga classes, wilderness outings, and recreational therapy programs.

Aftercare

  • Step-down programming and continuing care: Clients may transition into partial hospitalization programming (PHP), intensive outpatient programming (IOP), or telehealth IOP after residential treatment as part of their continuing care plan. PHP programming typically takes place over 20 weekdays, while IOP consists of 24 sessions over approximately 8 weeks.
  • Alumni and peer support: Clients may also have access to alumni events, reunions, recovery meetings, peer support opportunities, and continuing care coordination to help support long-term recovery and community connection.
