Who is this facility a good fit for?

  • Best fit if: Adults who want a full continuum of care that includes detox, residential treatment, and outpatient programming; individuals with co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders; veterans, active-duty military members, first responders, and military families seeking trauma-focused care; people recovering from trauma-related addiction; individuals looking for a higher-comfort residential environment with strong alumni support and community connection.

  • Not a fit if: Individuals seeking a faith-based treatment model; people planning to complete detox and continue treatment with a different provider; those looking for daily individual therapy sessions rather than a combination of individual and group treatment; individuals seeking a highly basic residential setting with minimal amenities.

What to expect

Developing your care plan

  • Assessment and intake: Comprehensive screenings are conducted for substance use and mental health concerns. Medical evaluations and continued monitoring take place during detox admission. Screenings can include HIV, Hepatitis, TB, and other lab tests. Assessments for trauma history, determining mental health needs, substance use patterns, and recovery goals are taken into consideration to determine the appropriate level of care. This can include residential treatment, a partial hospitalization program (PHP), intensive outpatient treatment (IOP), or standard outpatient services.
  • Developing your treatment plan: Treatment plans are developed with the client by working with therapists to establish recovery goals, monitoring progress, and keeping the plan up to date as treatment needs change. Clients can progress through step-down levels of care based on meeting milestones, which are reviewed during weekly therapy sessions to guide decisions about recovery planning.

Who you will meet with

  • Medical team: Depending on the level of care, clients may work with a medical director, psychiatric nurse practitioners, and registered nurses. The medical staff monitor detox services, medication management, and continued medical oversight during treatment.
  • Clinical and recovery support team: Individual therapists and master’s-level clinicians lead group therapy sessions while additional support may come from case management staff, peer support resources, family support services, and recovery and alumni team members. These professionals help coordinate treatment, support family involvement, and connect clients to resources throughout the duration of their treatment.

Typical schedule

  • Typical daily schedule: Morning through afternoon scheduling usually includes wake-up, personal care, breakfast, a goal-setting group, and a primary clinician-led therapy group followed by psychoeducation, rotating therapy groups, life-skills training, lunch, and relapse prevention programming. Evenings may include assigned therapeutic homework, dinner, personal time, outside recovery meetings and presentations, medication administration if needed, and bedtime. Topics and activities are rotated throughout the week to provide clients the opportunity to be exposed to a variety of experiences.
  • Therapies and specialized programming: Specialized programming is available for veterans, active-duty military members, military families, individuals with PTSD or traumatic brain injuries, as well as older adults, and those with serious mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders. Clients can receive a variety of treatment types including evidence-based therapy, and holistic and experiential therapies. Some examples include trauma-informed treatment, yoga and physical wellness programming, animal-assisted therapy, recreation and outdoor activities.

Living experiences and amenities

  • Residential environment and amenities: Designed to feel comfortable and welcoming rather than institutional, the home-like setting includes approximately three acres of outdoor space and clients may stay in private or shared rooms with access to housekeeping and laundry services. Internet access, cell phone access, and pet-friendly policies are available during treatment. Chef-prepared meals with dietary and religious accommodations are available as well.
  • Recreation and leisure activities: Recreational opportunities may include volleyball, basketball, fitness activities, movies, games, reading, community outings, adventure outings, museums, and other off-site activities.

Aftercare

  • Continuing care and alumni support: The facility offers a robust alumni and aftercare program with ongoing support including virtual alumni meetings, visiting alumni, local community events, outings, and continued accountability after discharge.
  • Recovery housing and relapse prevention: Formal relapse prevention planning helps clients prepare for long-term recovery, and structured men's sober living options may be available for some program graduates. Step-down outpatient programming is available through the Virtue Recovery system.
