Farmhouse Recovery Setting for Men
Set in a centuries-old farmhouse on a 150-acre working farm and golf property in Morrisville, Pennsylvania, this residential program serves adult men with substance use disorders, including those with co-occurring mental health needs. With an average stay of around three months, it offers a structured place to recover while easing back into everyday responsibilities.
Residential Program with Work and Peer Support
Daily life follows an intentional rhythm. Clients attend weekly individual counseling and small-group therapy, plus peer-led groups four times a week and twice-weekly community meetings. These meetings focus on communication, daily living skills, and shared responsibilities in the house. The program uses a live-in/work-out model, so employment can become part of treatment, helping men rebuild work routines and income while still supported by staff and peers.
Integrated Care for Substance Use and Mental Health
Care addresses substance use and co-occurring disorders together. Clients have access to mental health services and a psychiatric consultant to evaluate and manage symptoms that may affect recovery. Treatment may include approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), relapse prevention, trauma-related counseling, anger management, and 12-step work. The program also offers medications for addiction treatment (MAT), often in coordination with outside prescribers.
Vocational, Educational, and Practical Support
Good Friends links treatment with the skills needed to live more independently after discharge. Vocational services can include assessment, job readiness support, and job placement, while educational services may offer GED preparation, literacy help, or basic tutoring. Case management can help clients with budgeting, credit repair, housing planning, and connecting to social services or income support.
Community Environment and Everyday Amenities
The farmhouse setting offers shared living spaces, a large kitchen for meal services, rooms for individual and group counseling, television and internet access, darts, and a small library. Outside, clients have access to gardens, walking paths, and nearby golf facilities for recreation. Cell phones and visitors are allowed within program guidelines, which can make it easier to stay connected with family, coordinate work, or manage responsibilities at home while in treatment.
Community Connections and Aftercare Planning
The program provides discharge planning, aftercare and continuing care, naloxone and overdose education, and follow-up after discharge. Staff also connect clients with self-help groups, housing resources, transportation assistance, spiritual or faith-based support if desired, and peer mentoring.
