Long-term re-entry housing

Frontier Health Virginia’s Place provides a safe, stable place for men as they work toward independent living. Staff provide supervision and guidance around the clock. Up to 18 men reside at the facility at one time, and this shared environment lends itself to peers supporting one another and providing mutual encouragement. The facility is specifically designed for men with severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI), including men with SPMI and a co-occurring substance use disorder.

Life skills education

Along with providing a place for men to live and work on their recovery, the program is meant to help men learn essential skills and tools for everyday life. This can include routine-building and participating in living skills training. Supports are in place to help men transition to more independent living in the community as they are ready.

Community support and participation

Men can be connected with Individual Placement and Support/Supported Employment services, which assist them with finding and training for potential job opportunities. Staff also put men in touch with Certified Peer Recovery Support and SSI/SSDI Outreach, Access, and Recovery (SOAR) for essential practical aid.

Trauma-informed staff

The care team at Frontier Health is trained in trauma-informed treatment. Men staying at Virginia’s Place can be linked to other services within the Frontier Health network as needed, giving them access to a range of medical and behavioral health resources.
