A 24/7 Residential Program With Deep Roots

Ellen OBrien Gaiser Addiction Center provides high-intensity residential treatment for adults, with support available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Known as the region’s longest-running addiction treatment program, it also serves as a Pennsylvania Center of Excellence for opioid use disorder treatment. The setting includes private rooms and campus-style amenities such as gardens, walking paths, outdoor space, and relaxation lounges.

Integrated Medical and Behavioral Health Care, Including MAT

Care is delivered by a multidisciplinary team that includes addiction medicine, nursing, psychiatry support, and addiction counselors. Clients receive wellness and mental health assessments, a medical history and physical review, and ongoing monitoring of medication administration. The program provides medications for addiction treatment (MAT) and also accepts clients who arrive on MAT prescribed elsewhere.

Trauma-Informed, Gender-Specific, and Inclusive Support

Men and women have separate living and treatment spaces, creating more privacy and a focused environment for recovery. The center serves a range of adult populations, including veterans, young adults, older adults, pregnant and postpartum women, and people with co-occurring mental health needs or trauma histories. Family education and involvement are built into the residential stay to support healthier dynamics at home.

Daily Structure, Whole-Person Routines, and Planning for What Comes Next

Residential life includes activities of daily living that help clients rebuild routines and take responsibility for personal and shared spaces. Clients also have access to weekly yoga classes and equine therapy through Glade Run Adventures. Recovery support includes traditional 12-step options alongside alternatives such as SMART Recovery and Refuge Recovery. Discharge planning and continuing care include aftercare coordination, recovery coaching, peer support, housing and social services assistance, employment counseling, and overdose education with naloxone training. When withdrawal management (detox) is needed before admission, the center connects clients with detox services through referrals.
