Alpha House has served the Pittsburgh community for over 50 years, built on the belief that recovery is strengthened through connection. The program emphasizes a peer-driven approach where individuals support one another, creating accountability and belonging alongside professional treatment.

High-Intensity, Long-Term Care

Licensed as an ASAM Level 3.5 facility, Alpha House provides a structured residential program for people with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. Treatment includes evidence-based approaches like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-focused counseling, motivational interviewing, and 12-step facilitation. Medications for addiction treatment (MAT), including buprenorphine and naltrexone, are also available.

Skill-Building for Lasting Independence

Recovery at Alpha House extends beyond therapy sessions. Residents share in cooking, cleaning, and facility operations, building daily routines that prepare them for independent living. Educational and vocational support, life skills training, and access to a fitness center further help residents develop confidence and stability for life after treatment.

Support for Complex Needs

The program offers tailored support for individuals who face overlapping challenges such as trauma, criminal justice involvement, or HIV/AIDS. Specialized services and counseling ensure that residents’ social, emotional, and medical needs are addressed alongside substance use treatment. Discharge planning, naloxone education, and aftercare follow-up help sustain progress beyond residential care.

A Stable, Home-Like Setting

Located in the heart of Pittsburgh, Alpha House accommodates up to 30 residents in shared rooms designed to foster connection and accountability. The home-like environment, combined with structured programming and peer support, creates a safe foundation where individuals can focus on healing and long-term recovery.
