Who is this facility a good fit for?
Best fit if: Adults needing structured care while living at home; balancing work, school, or family life with recovery; experiencing symptoms of co-occurring mental health conditions; preferring to work with a regular therapist in a program that offers psychiatric oversight; seeking a program that combines research-based treatment with wellness-focused activities; seeking a program that offers some flexibility.
Not a fit if: Adults needing residential or inpatient care; seeking an outpatient program with evening programming.
What to expect
Developing your care plan
- First steps: The clinical director meets with each client before admission to the program for a 30-minute phone pre-assessment. Anyone who is considering the program can tour the facility before beginning treatment. Clients can start as soon as the next day, in many cases.
- Initial assessment: Upon admission, the clinical director meets with clients for a more in-depth evaluation, which helps guide care planning. Treatment recommendations are based on various factors, like clinical presentation, medical necessity, and individual goals.
- Reassessments: Care plans are formally reviewed every two weeks and adjustments are made according to client needs. External specialty services are also available when needed; these may include sleep studies, brain mapping, neurological testing, and TMS for depression.
Who you will meet with
- Psychiatric physician: A board-certified psychiatrist visits the facility regularly, meeting with clients on a weekly or monthly basis, depending on level of care.
- Clinical director: The clinical director, a licensed marriage and family therapist, conducts initial evaluations and oversees treatment planning for all clients.
- Primary therapist: The primary therapist meets with clients at least once a week, but sessions can increase to two times a week if needed.
- Group facilitators: These are experienced clinicians with more than a decade in the field. They lead psychoeducational and therapy groups, regularly interacting with clients.
Typical schedule
- Partial hospitalization program: The PHP program runs Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–4 p.m. Clients attend sessions for a total of approximately 30 hours every week.
- Intensive outpatient program: The IOP program offers two tracks; the morning track is 9 a.m.–12 p.m., and the afternoon track is 1–4 p.m. Clients in this program attend sessions three to five days a week for about 9–15 hours a week and can combine morning and afternoon sessions to fit their schedules.
- Individual therapy sessions: Clients in both the PHP and IOP programs meet with the primary therapist at least once a week. Various treatment approaches may be used in these sessions, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).
- Group sessions: Clients also participate in group programming. Group topics can vary and may include a focus on topics like grief and loss or coping skills. Therapy approaches like CBT and DBT are also used in group treatment.
- Psychiatric support: When clinically indicated, clients can also meet with the visiting psychiatrist for medication management and follow-up as needed.
Living experiences and amenities
- Wellness programming: Several wellness programs are available, including sound healing, Pilates, yoga, gym outings, and personal training sessions.
- A focus on flexibility, comfort, and support: This facility offers flexible options for clients. Next-day admissions may be possible, and those in the IOP program have the option of morning and afternoon scheduling. Touring the facility before admission is encouraged, and staff are available after hours in the event of a crisis.
Aftercare
- Comprehensive aftercare planning: Continued community support is offered to help clients maintain long-term recovery after they complete the program.
- Alumni support: An active alumni program helps clients maintain peer connections after treatment.
