Trauma-informed residential mental health care for adults set in private estates with a flexible technology policy. With six clients per house and a high staff-to-client ratio, clinicians can provide dedicated attention to individual needs. Clients stay in gender-separate accommodations, participate in one-on-one therapy sessions twice a week, and meet with a psychiatrist and a case manager weekly. Evidence-based therapies are blended with mindfulness, yoga, nutrition, and medication management when needed. Weekly group outings are designed to build life skills and connections with peers. What to expect
Developing your care plan
- First 24 hours: Treatment starts with a one-hour intake with nursing and medical coordinators to review medical history, allergies, and medications. From the moment they arrive, clients are on “one-on-ones” (accompanied by staff at all times) until a full suicide screening and safety plan are completed.
- Goal setting: Once transported to their residential estate, clients sit down with a clinician for a 45-to-60-minute comprehensive assessment to outline their psychiatric history and create goals for the coming weeks. Clients are fully involved in the creation of their care plans.
- Continuous reassessment: Treatment plans are reviewed and updated regularly with the client's primary therapist. Clients also meet with their psychiatrist once a week and their primary therapist twice a week for one-on-one sessions. Length of stay is determined by clinical progress rather than fixed timelines.
Who you will meet with
- Primary therapist: The core of the treatment team whom the client interacts with most heavily for their clinical needs. One-on-one therapy takes place twice each week.
- Clinical case manager: A role designed to help clients manage outside stressors and reintegration. They help with paying bills, resume building, and completing FMLA or EDD paperwork.
- Psychiatrist: Clients meet with a psychiatrist at least once a week. Mental health medications can be prescribed and adjusted as appropriate.
- Client Coordinators (CCs): Each house has two CCs available 24 hours a day to assist with medication passes, general household support, and 15-minute safety checks using "Visible Hands" wristbands.
- In-house care: With a maximum of six clients per house, AMFM is a high-touch environment with full-time staff, including a personal chef.

Typical schedule
- Clinical hours (10 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.): This block is strictly for deep clinical work, featuring three 90-minute group therapy sessions a day, individual therapy sessions twice weekly, and psychiatric appointments weekly.
- Evening routine (5 p.m. - lights out): Downtime is intentional. Clients might attend AA or NA meetings, go for a hike or community walk for physical fitness, or participate in a game night to practice social skills.
- Intentional meals: A personal chef prepares lunch and dinner, but breakfast is intentionally left for the clients to prepare themselves using stocked ingredients. This acts as functional skill-building practice.
- Wellness groups: Clients can participate in yoga, meditation, and fitness groups, as well as nutrition groups led by chefs trained in food as medicine.
- Weekends: Outings are designed to practice life skills, such as a group of housemates collaboratively deciding to go to the movies, buying tickets, and interacting with concessions.

Living experiences and amenities
- Small community setting: The estate-style homes typically accommodate around six individuals to maintain a close-knit, supportive group.
- Indoor accommodations: Clients stay in shared rooms, many with direct access to outdoor balconies. Facilities have living rooms with fireplaces, recreation areas with games, and a library.
- Outdoor spaces: The residences have scenic views, outdoor swimming pools, and covered patios with lounge seating.
- Fitness and wellness: Clients participate in some level of physical fitness or outdoor activity every day. The program also includes sessions with a physical fitness trainer and yoga therapist three times a week.
- Flexible tech policy: Personal computers are allowed during certain hours so clients can keep in touch with outside responsibilities.
Aftercare
- Transition planning: AMFM uses dedicated “Clinical Liaisons” to act as aftercare planners. These liaisons handle the logistics of moving a client to their next step, whether that is a partial hospitalization program (PHP) or an intensive outpatient program (IOP), and they manage the financial and administrative conversations.
