Reintegration for Men in Recovery
Unity House offers residential reintegration for adult men in recovery, including those with co-occurring mental health conditions or housing instability. Located in Buffalo’s East Side, the program provides a structured, community-based setting where residents practice routines, build independence, and prepare to return to stable community living.
Trauma-Informed and Goal-Oriented Care
Care is trauma-informed and person-centered. Residents set their own recovery goals while participating in individual and group counseling. Evidence-based therapies such as cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, relapse prevention, and 12-Step facilitation are core elements. Staff also connect residents with outpatient treatment, mental health providers, and medical services. Practical resources like vocational training, education, case management, and employment counseling, equip residents with tools for long-term stability.
Accessible Living Environment
The facility is fully handicap accessible and offers semi-private rooms, on-site meals, and a recreation area. Its location along a primary bus route makes it easier for residents to reach community services and outpatient appointments. Daily life incorporates structured groups, self-help participation such as alcoholics anonymous (AA) or narcotics anonymous (NA) meetings, and workshops on stress management, wellness, and healthy boundaries. Smoking and vaping are not permitted.
Structure and Oversight
Typical stays range from 30 to 90 days, though program length depends on individual needs. Unity House is certified by the New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS) and overseen by the Erie County Department of Mental Health. As part of Cazenovia Recovery’s continuum of care, the program bridges structured treatment with community living by combining counseling, trauma-informed support, and practical reintegration services.
