Residential substance use treatment for teens ages 13–17

Programming is specifically designed for adolescents, providing 24/7 supervision alongside a community-based approach. The campus includes two historic homes with a total of 20 beds, creating a smaller home-like setting. Treatment integrates life skills training, coping skills practice, and recreation with peers with the goal of supporting teens as they prepare to return to school and family relationships.

A focus on education

In this program, teens can continue working toward their academic goals while receiving residential care rather than having to put school entirely on hold. The in-house Transitions Learning Center provides a traditional classroom environment with a low student-to-staff ratio. The school communicates directly with clients’ public or private schools and other treatment providers to help them stay on track.

Treatment for substance use, co-occurring mental health conditions, and trauma together

Programming considers the emotional or mental health concerns that may be contributing to a teen’s substance use rather than addressing substance use alone. It can address co-occurring mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, and trauma. Treatment approaches vary and can include individual and group therapy, drug and alcohol education, art and music therapy, anger management, and life skills training. Trauma-focused care can help teens recognize triggers and learn how to replace unhealthy coping strategies with healthier ways of responding.

Families play an active role in treatment

Treatment is designed to help families understand and respond to their teens’ substance use rather than treating the teen in isolation. Parents participate in weekly family therapy as well as drug and alcohol education and support groups. Assessments and other information are also provided for parents and other family members.
