Residential Treatment with Structure and Spiritual Purpose
Life Center of Connecticut’s Men’s Home offers a long-term residential recovery program for adult men in Hartford. Operated by Youth Challenge of Connecticut, the nonprofit program combines evidence-based treatment with a strong spiritual foundation. Residents live in a sober, structured environment designed to promote stability, accountability, and personal growth.
Two-Phase Recovery Model with Vocational Support
Clients begin in a highly structured program with daily counseling, classes, and group activities. As they progress, they transition into a second phase that emphasizes employment or educational advancement while continuing therapy and peer support. This phased approach helps build momentum from initial stabilization to longer-term independence.
Co-Occurring Mental Health and Trauma Support
The Men’s Home serves clients managing co-occurring mental health conditions, trauma, and chronic pain. Treatment incorporates trauma-informed counseling, anger management, and relapse prevention. Medications for addiction treatment (MAT), including buprenorphine and naltrexone, are available through contracted providers, expanding access to medical support for opioid and alcohol use disorders.
Community Support for Reentry and Recovery
In addition to housing, meals, and transportation assistance, residents receive case management and support connecting to legal, medical, and social services. The program welcomes referrals from courts, correctional agencies, and community organizations, and serves veterans, older adults, and trauma survivors. Peer mentoring and recovery coaching promote a sense of connection and accountability, helping men build new lives with purpose and structure.
Faith-Based Approach to Healing
Spiritual growth is central to the program’s philosophy. Residents can engage in biblical counseling, prayer, and non-denominational spiritual practices that emphasize renewal, discipline, and self-respect. For many, this spiritual element offers a meaningful framework for transformation and resilience.
