Historic Riverside Setting With Wellness Amenities
Housed in a historic former inn along the Connecticut River, Rushford Center Inc - Residential Intensive Treatment DMHAS offers a quieter, more removed environment than many clinical campuses. The Middletown location includes outdoor relaxation areas, including a deck overlooking the river. Wellness-focused services are woven into programming, with yoga as a part of every program and additional options such as art therapy, mindfulness training, meditation, and nutrition education.
Structured Adult Detox and Residential Care With Step-Down Options
Clients can start with medically monitored withdrawal management (detox) and transition into residential treatment in a structured, substance-free setting, including gender-specific residential programming. When a lower level of care is appropriate, the same location also provides partial hospitalization (PHP) and outpatient services, including intensive outpatient programming (IOP). This range of options support continuity as needs change over time.
Co-Occurring Mental Health Support With Practical, Skills-Based Therapy
Care is designed for substance use treatment alongside support for co-occurring mental health concerns, including depression, anxiety, and trauma. Programming is primarily group-based and may include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, relapse prevention, trauma-related counseling, and 12-step facilitation. Individual counseling and family involvement are also part of the treatment experience, helping clients build insight while strengthening support at home.
Medication Support and Connection Beyond Appointments
The program offers medications for addiction treatment (MAT), including options such as Suboxone and Vivitrol, alongside counseling and relapse-prevention groups. On-site peer support group meetings and Recovery Support Specialists add day-to-day recovery connection during treatment. Between sessions, the TryCycle mobile app can help clients stay connected with their clinical team and a recovery support specialist outside scheduled appointments. Naloxone prescriptions, training, and overdose education are also available.
