Teen-Focused Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

The program allows teens to continue to live at home, go to school, and take part in extracurricular activities while receiving the treatment they need. Sessions take place three days per week, with between 9 and 12 hours per week total. Intensive outpatient care can last between 4 and 12 weeks, though this is flexible depending on progress and goals. Master’s-level therapists provide treatment and guidance for teens with mental health concerns, trauma, and co-occurring substance use disorders. A virtual IOP is available for teens who cannot attend sessions in person.

Tutoring and Academic Support

Teens can receive focused help with their schoolwork as part of treatment. This can include tutoring and coordination with teens’ home schools when appropriate. Sessions, both in-person and virtual, can be scheduled around school hours and responsibilities. Families receive regular updates on teens’ progress and any challenges they are facing.

Age-Specific Programming

Evidence-based therapies, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), are adapted to fit age-appropriate and developmental needs. Therapists also use methods such as motivational interviewing and trauma counseling, adapted to the adolescent stage. These approaches are blended with art and music therapy, life skills education, and stress management techniques.

Family Therapy and Involvement

Family therapy is an integral part of treatment at Key Healthcare. Frequent family therapy sessions are scheduled to explore topics such as conflict resolution, healthy boundaries, understanding mental health, developing trust, and communication. Parents can also participate in educational workshops and receive coaching to better support their teens outside of the treatment setting.
