Home-Based Residential Setting in Phoenix
HOPESS Kings Home provides 24/7 residential care in a home-like environment in northwest Phoenix. The setting balances comfort and structure, with shared bedrooms, shaded outdoor areas, and communal living spaces designed to foster connection. Unlike institutional models, this approach emphasizes warmth, dignity, and peer support, particularly important for clients recovering from trauma or navigating long-term instability.
Trauma-Informed Care for Co-Occurring Needs
This program supports adults managing both substance use and mental health conditions, including PTSD, anxiety, depression, and chronic pain. Many clients arrive after previous treatment attempts or with criminal justice involvement. Treatment typically spans 90 to 120 days and includes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, and trauma-focused counseling. Programming is designed to meet clients where they are, emotionally and clinically, with a focus on safety, trust-building, and long-term recovery skills.
Whole-Person Supports That Extend Beyond Treatment
HOPESS integrates holistic approaches and wraparound services that help clients regain emotional and financial footing. Clients receive HeartMath training to support emotional regulation and stress management, alongside one-on-one therapy, relapse prevention planning, spiritual support, and group counseling. The facility supports the use of medications for addiction treatment (MAT), including buprenorphine and naltrexone, whether prescribed onsite or externally. Case managers assist with legal advocacy, benefits enrollment, transportation, document recovery, and opening bank accounts, even for those with poor credit, bridging the gap between treatment and real-world needs.
Inclusive Programming for Underserved Populations
The facility is known for its culturally responsive and inclusive care. Programming is tailored for LGBTQ+ individuals, Native American clients, veterans, and women, including those who are pregnant or postpartum. Staff are trained in Safe Zone practices, creating an affirming environment across the gender spectrum. Clients are also introduced to 12-step programs and have access to onsite AA/NA meetings, supporting social connection and continuity of care through shared experience.
Preparing for Life After Care
HOPESS places strong emphasis on life beyond treatment. Clients receive individualized discharge planning that may include job coaching, assistance finding stable housing, court support, and peer mentorship. These services are rooted in the belief that recovery is not only about sobriety, but also about building independence and self-worth. Continued support through alumni programming and local resource referrals helps clients stay connected, engaged, and on track long after their stay ends.
