Holistic Healing Including Animal Assisted Therapy

The Animal-Assisted Therapy (AAT) program at Rosewood Ranch can be instrumental to healing for clients of all ages. For many, interacting with animals is highly soothing and provides invaluable lessons in the bonds of trust. The emotional support that animals can provide is unmatched, so it’s no wonder that this is one of the ranch’s most popular treatment programs. Animals at the ranch include horses, goats, and dogs. Other holistic therapy options include art and music therapy, which can help clients channel their emotions into creating something beautiful that they can be proud of and share with others.

Personal, Adaptive Care Plans

When a client enters Rosewood Ranch, they are given multiple assessments: medical, nutritional, psychiatric, and psychological. The results of these assessments help the care team determine the best plan for each client, as well as identify any co-existing conditions such as substance use, medical issues, mental health challenges, and mood disorders. Co-existing conditions are treated alongside eating disorders. This whole-person approach can significantly reduce the risk of relapse, as underlying issues are targeted from all angles. Registered Dieticians (RDs) create adapted meal plans, with offerings including local ingredients. Vegetarian options are available, and allergies and intolerances are accommodated. Treatment plans are assessed weekly and tailored as needed.

Age-Specific Program for Teens

Adolescents have their own unique set of needs and concerns, so Rosewood Ranch has a program designed specifically for them. Unique features of the teen curriculum include an on-site school, academics woven into daily schedules, a non-smoking facility, and age-appropriate therapy on topics such as body image, self-esteem, peer pressure, and life skills. Staff approach these issues gently from a place of acceptance, so teens can feel safe and welcome. Family members are closely involved and seen as an integral part of healing. The program includes a weekly case review with parents or guardians. Teens can receive family visits on Sundays, and have the opportunity to make daily phone calls to their loved ones.
