Who is this facility a good fit for?
Best fit if: Adults needing medically supervised withdrawal; seeking a smaller residential environment; needing addiction treatment alongside mental health concerns; looking for support for planning next steps; seeking multiple recovery approaches; families who want to be involved in treatment.
Not a fit if: Adults seeking outpatient treatment or an on-site sober living program; looking for a highly flexible or fully self-directed daily treatment schedule; wanting a standalone mental health program.
What to expect
Developing your care plan
- Pre-admission assessment: The first step is a phone assessment during which staff can learn more about the client’s substance use and treatment history.
- Early counselor assignment: Clients are assigned a primary counselor when they agree to an admission date. Those who need withdrawal management meet their counselors during this phase of treatment, but individual therapy typically doesn’t start until residential treatment.
- Residential treatment planning: After stabilization, clients participate in individual counseling and discuss their needs, goals, and next steps. Clients can request additional individual counseling sessions as needed.
Who you will meet with
- Medical team: When clients are in withdrawal management, they meet with medical providers daily. Nursing coverage is provided 24/7 during both withdrawal management and residential care.
- Primary counselor: Primary counselors meet with clients for individual counseling once a week and lead daily group sessions.
- Family counselor: When the client approves, a dedicated family counselor supports family involvement.
- Case manager: Case managers offer support with continuing care, recovery meetings, housing, and legal documentation.
Typical schedule
- Withdrawal management: Withdrawal management generally lasts 7 to 10 days. Clients meet with a medical provider daily, and nurses provide around-the-clock care.
- Residential treatment: From Monday to Friday, from 1:15 to 2:15 p.m., clients attend small-group counseling sessions with their assigned primary counselor. Additional programming is also offered, focusing on addiction education, coping skills, and understanding past experiences.
- Other programming: Clients have weekly individual counseling sessions with their primary counselor and can request additional individual sessions as needed.
- Family visits: Families can visit every other Saturday after withdrawal management, but clients are free to refuse family involvement.
Living experiences and amenities
- House-like environment with communal living: The 16-bed facility is a converted residential home. Clients share bedrooms, lounges, and outdoor spaces.
- Complementary activities: Clients have access to television, reading materials, games, and other recreational activities, such as yoga and art therapy.
- Family visitation with client consent: After withdrawal management, clients are permitted two-hour visits with family every other Saturday. The first hour consists of a structured discussion between the client, counselor, and family members; the second allows clients to spend private time with their families. Clients are also free to decline family involvement.
Aftercare
- Access to a sister program: Clients typically stay in the Simpsonville program for 14 days, including both withdrawal management and residential treatment. If a longer stay is needed, clients can consider the organization’s sister facility in Charlotte.
- Connections to other resources: Staff help clients find outpatient services in their home community or in another state if they plan to relocate. They can also help identify local AA or other recovery meetings or connect clients with longer-term treatment when appropriate.
- Other services: Clients can get help determining whether returning to their previous home would support recovery. Staff can also coordinate with probation or parole officers when authorized by the client.
Pre-admissions experience
We conducted a series of pre-admissions calls, the most recent on October 8, 2026, to evaluate response time, transparency, and patient experience.
We spoke with a representative from South Carolina Addiction Treatment and found them to be highly knowledgeable, empathetic, and supportive without any sales pressure. They provided clear details about the daily schedule and step-down process and were completely transparent about cost.

Quality and Trust
Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities
CARF reviews rehab programs to make sure they provide respectful, effective, and personalized care. For addiction treatment, CARF uses standards developed with the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM), so this accreditation shows the program follows trusted, evidence-based guidelines for treating substance use.
Learn moreHow we research treatment facilities
Across the site, our team has conducted over 1,000 pre-admissions calls to better understand the patient experience, interviewed facility clinical leaders, performed facility background checks, and compared our information against trusted public data sources.
Our research process begins with data from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), accrediting bodies including The Joint Commission and CARF, government licensing agencies, and other trusted sources. From there, our team conducts significant original research, including:
- Pre-admissions calls: We speak with admissions staff to get a candid picture of patient experience.
- Background checks: We review complaints from past clients, media reports, actions taken by accrediting bodies, and positive recognition from notable organizations.
- Clinical interviews: We have in-depth conversations with clinical leadership, often lasting up to one hour, that give us a better understanding of clinical care.
- Data partnerships: We ingest and analyze exclusive data that provides information about in-network insurance status, cost, and more.
Research varies by facility. Each facility profile shows which research steps we completed and when each step was last performed. Learn more about our research process and background checks.
How we evaluate treatment facilities
These data help us develop a Trust Score for each facility—a simple letter grade that helps you assess how much confidence to place in a facility based on the information available to us. Trust Score considers accreditation, operating history, notable recognition, and concerns identified during our background check. Our Trust Score is an objective rating that is never influenced by advertiser payment. Learn more about our Trust Score methodology.

A Trust Score is a starting point, not a guarantee of treatment quality or outcomes. Please contact us if you would like to update or correct facility information.
