Samba Recovery Atlanta

Upscale addiction treatment facility offering medical detox, residential treatment, and outpatient services in one location. Clients can step down through care that includes a partial hospitalization program (PHP), intensive outpatient program (IOP), standard outpatient treatment, virtual aftercare, and recovery support services. This approach allows individuals to continue receiving support as they transition from residential treatment back to everyday life. Who is this facility a good fit for?
Best fit if: Adults seeking a full continuum of care from detox through residential treatment, PHP, and IOP within the same location; people who benefit from a structured daily schedule; individuals seeking treatment for substance use and co-occurring mental health concerns; those interested in evidence-based therapies, 12-Step programming, and experiential therapy; people who want step-down options including virtual aftercare support.
Not a fit if: People seeking private rooms or a highly luxury-focused treatment experience; individuals looking for a large or long-established treatment campus; those who prefer minimal group participation or a less structured environment; individuals relying on Medicare or Medicaid coverage.
What to expect
Developing your care plan
- Comprehensive assessment and treatment planning: Treatment planning starts with nursing, medical, and biopsychosocial assessments. This is done so the care team can review substance use history, medical history, withdrawal risk, mental health concerns, and recovery needs. Clients have the opportunity to review and discuss their treatment plan with care providers.
- Ongoing treatment reviews: Care team meetings take place twice a week, where medical and clinical staff review progress, participation, and ongoing treatment needs. As the client progresses in recovery, recommendations may be adjusted. These reviews provide an opportunity to determine next levels of care and treatment.
Who you will meet with
- Medical treatment team: Nurse practitioners and medical providers oversee medical care and ongoing health needs, and a medical director helps guide medical treatment decisions. Clients will also interact with the director of nursing, who oversees nursing services and participates in treatment planning.
- Clinical treatment team: Therapists help guide treatment planning and individual therapy, while counselors facilitate treatment programming and recovery support. There is also a clinical director onsite who provides oversight of clinical services and care recommendations. Treatment decisions are made through discussion among multiple clinical and medical professionals as opposed to a single provider.
Typical schedule
- Detox: Withdrawal management (detox) is medically supervised with 24/7 clinical support. Comfort medications can be prescribed and gradual tapering practices are used to minimize withdrawal symptoms. Medications for addiction treatment (MAT) include buprenorphine, methadone, and Vivitrol.
- Structured daily programming: Days typically begin with breakfast and exercise. Clients usually participate in clinical programming from about 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Their schedules may include group therapy, recovery programming, and wellness activities throughout the day. Meals, breaks, and personal downtime are also built into the daily schedule.
- Intensive outpatient scheduling options: The IOP program offers flexibility with morning and evening choices. Daily time slots for the morning are 10 a.m.-1 p.m. and for the evening are 6-9 p.m.
- Therapy, recovery, and wellness activities: Various programs take place throughout the day and may include evidence-based therapies such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and 12-Step programming. Individuals are also able to participate in experiential therapies, peer interaction, and wellness programming such as art therapy and physical fitness.
Living experiences and amenities
- Accommodations: Clients stay in semi-private, air-conditioned rooms with one roommate. Each room has a private bathroom. The facility has lounge areas with television and a pool table. Up to 46 clients can be admitted at a time.
- Outdoor activities and sports: Adventure therapy is offered, allowing clients to spend healing time in nature. During downtime, clients can enjoy pickleball courts, basketball courts, a large exercise area, and a spacious outdoor patio.
- Holistic and creative therapies: Clients can participate in yoga, meditation, and fitness classes, as well as art and music therapy.
- Visitation and phone policy: Family visitation is allowed, and clients can use their personal smartphones during designated times.
Aftercare
- Continuing care planning: Prior to discharge, clients have the opportunity to work with staff to develop their continuing care plan. This may include recovery goals, outpatient treatment recommendations, relapse prevention strategies, and connections to ongoing support services.
- Recovery support services: Recovery support can include peer support, mentoring, employment counseling, and providing other resources that can help individuals maintain recovery and build stability after treatment. These services are intended to support the transition back to daily responsibilities, work, school, and family life.
