Integrated Substance Use and Mental Health Care
Scioto Paint Valley Mental Health Center’s Pickaway County Clinic supports people working through substance use concerns alongside mental health needs, including co-occurring disorders. Services begin with screening and comprehensive assessments, then continue with counseling and therapy that may include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, relapse prevention, trauma-related counseling, anger management, contingency management, and the Matrix Model. Telehealth therapy is also available for added flexibility.
Multiple Levels of Care in One Network
The program offers outpatient care across different intensities, including regular outpatient, intensive outpatient treatment (IOP), and partial hospitalization/day treatment (PHP). For people who need a higher level of structure, Scioto Paint Valley also provides 24-hour residential services through its broader network, including 90-day-plus substance use residential programs for adults and a residential mental health program with transitional housing. This can make it easier to move between levels of care without starting over with a new provider.
Recovery Supports for Day-To-Day Stability
Support doesn’t have to stop at therapy sessions. Services include case management, help accessing social services, peer support (including recovery coaching and mentoring), self-help groups, and discharge planning with aftercare/continuing care and follow-up after discharge. The program also offers employment counseling or training, which can help clients rebuild routine and stability while they work on recovery.
Whole-Person Health and Safety Supports
Scioto Paint Valley offers a primary care model as part of its system, designed to support wellness alongside behavioral health. Primary care services include health assessments, treatment for minor acute conditions, wellness education and groups, physicals, and smoking cessation, provided by a certified nurse practitioner. The program also offers health education (including HIV and hepatitis education) and testing services such as HIV, sexually transmitted disease (STD), and hepatitis testing, along with drug and alcohol screening. Naloxone education and overdose education are part of the recovery support services.
