Small residential treatment program for men with a substantial focus on individualized therapy

Wellbrook Recovery in Chardon is a small residential program, hosting about 10 clients at a time. Programming includes three hours of one-on-one therapy and 30 hours of group sessions each week and addresses challenges with substance use alongside co-occurring mental health concerns, such as trauma, anxiety, depression, and PTSD.

Specialized care for men, including programs for profession-specific concerns

Group therapy and life-skills work are intended to build connections among the men in treatment. Specialized programs are offered for certain professionals, such as executives, lawyers, physicians, and first responders. These programs address profession-specific concerns, such as workplace stress, emotional trauma, and PTSD.

A mix of evidence-based and holistic therapies

Treatment uses structured, evidence-based approaches combined with experiential and holistic approaches rather than relying on one treatment style. The program includes nature and art therapy, yoga, mindfulness, breathwork, and sound therapy alongside more traditional approaches, like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), neurofeedback, and trauma-focused care.

A home-like setting on 7.5 acres

The 3,000-square-foot residence sits on 7.5 acres of land, contributing to the small, quiet, home-like environment. An intensive therapy schedule is paired with recreation and outdoor experiences, such as nature paths, basketball, and a fire pit. Chef-prepared meals are provided, and off-site activities allow clients to spend downtime with a small group of peers.

Step-down care and practical support for life after residential treatment

In addition to residential treatment, this location also offers a PHP and an IOP. The PHP operates five hours per day, six days a week; the IOP provides 10 hours of individual and group therapy every week. Case managers help clients plan outpatient care and can help coordinate sober living when necessary. Clients can also stay connected through alumni programming.
