Who is this facility a good fit for?
Best fit if: Adults who are seeking substance use treatment with co-occurring mental health support; want a luxury-style environment with structured clinical care; respond well to a combination of evidence-based therapy, experiential activities, and peer connection; value comfort, privacy, and amenities during treatment; are traveling from out of state for residential care; prefer gender-specific housing arrangements; or are looking for a full continuum of care from detox through outpatient treatment.
Not a fit if: Adults who want unrestricted access to phones, computers, and internet throughout treatment; are seeking a highly independent outpatient-only experience with minimal structure; are looking for a program focused primarily on medication-based opioid treatment; or strongly prefer a completely non-12-step treatment environment.
What to expect
Developing your care plan
- Intake and admission: Before admission, clients will undergo insurance verification, clinical assessments, substance use evaluation, and be screened for medical issues that could affect treatment. Same-day admission may be available.
- Individualized treatment plans: Care plans are individualized with clients working directly with the clinical team to establish treatment goals, identify which areas they want to focus on, and determine therapeutic priorities. The client may request additional sessions when they feel they need it.
Who you will meet with
- Primary therapist and clinical team: A primary therapist is assigned to each client. They meet one to three times a week depending on needs and treatment goals. Clients will also work with other licensed clinicians to lead small-group therapy sessions and other recovery programs that take place during treatment.
- Medical and psychiatric providers: Psychiatric providers are available to support mental health treatment and medication management. Medical staff and nursing staff help with care during detox and during treatment as needed.
- Case managers: Case managers help with coordinating treatment needs, discharge planning, and additional recovery support services.
Typical schedule
- Withdrawal management: Clients can expect to be in medical detox for 5-7 days. During this time, optional educational programming is available but the focus is on rest and stabilization.
- Daily schedule: Days typically begin with breakfast followed by therapy groups and educational sessions. Afternoons include more clinical programming, therapy groups, and individual sessions. Optional AA meetings, other recovery support groups, recreational activities, and opportunities for peer connection are available in the evening. The program is built to balance therapy, recreation, and peer connection. Most groups last 40 to 45 minutes, with breaks in between sessions.
- Evidence-based therapy: Clients may take part in a variety of evidence-based therapies such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, trauma counseling, substance use counseling, relapse prevention, and 12-step facilitation.
Living experiences and amenities
- Living arrangements: Gender-specific housing with separate living spaces for men and women is available for clients. Amenities include pool access, nature-focused outdoor spaces, quiet seating areas, flat-screen TVs in rooms, a movie theater room, an on-site gym, and access to wellness services including a masseuse.
- Adventure recovery and recreation: Clients can join in weekly activities like ATV riding, fishing, kayaking, camping, hiking, city outings, movie nights. They are provided an LA Fitness membership.
- Independence and life skills: The program uses a self-sufficiency model. It encourages personal responsibility by including shopping trips, weekly food budgets, money management, and restricted cell phone access with approval.
Aftercare
- Step-down care: Clients may continue treatment through PHP, IOP, standard outpatient treatment based on their recovery needs.
- Recovery support services: Continued support may include peer mentoring, self-help groups, housing assistance, employment counseling, case management, and connections to social service resources.
- Discharge planning and continuing care: Discharge planning begins before treatment is complete and may include overdose prevention education, recovery support referrals, and follow-up services.
