Residential Programs for Women

Santa Maria Hostel Inc – Jacquelyn provides trauma-informed, evidence-based treatment in a structured residential setting. Women can choose from two tracks, including an intensive program with about 30 hours of weekly groups covering addiction education, relapse prevention, parenting, and GED support, or a supportive program requiring at least 10 hours a week that allows time for work or housing searches. Transitional housing and sober living support help clients maintain safety and stability beyond their stay.

Mothers and Children in Care

One of the facility’s most distinctive features is that mothers may bring their children into treatment. On-campus childcare, after-school programming, and play therapy provide children with consistency while mothers focus on recovery. Parenting classes, coaching, and family counseling strengthen family bonds, reducing common barriers that often prevent women from seeking residential treatment. This family-centered approach helps women remain engaged in care without sacrificing their role as caregivers.

Recovery Supports and Health Services

In addition to counseling, clients benefit from case management, recovery coaches, peer mentoring, and self-help groups. Health and wellness are built into care through fitness and nutrition classes, smoking cessation counseling, and access to the onsite CARE Clinic for medical and behavioral health needs. Medications such as naltrexone and nicotine replacement are available as part of treatment. Vocational training, GED preparation, and employment counseling prepare women for life after treatment, supported by discharge planning, aftercare, naloxone education, and outcome follow-up.

Support for Veterans and Community Roots

The VIEWS program (Veteran Initiative Empowering Women’s Stability, Skills and Self-Determination) offers transitional supportive housing for homeless female veterans, with access to education, employment support, and recovery coaching. A Veterans Administration referral is required. Bilingual services in Spanish and sign language ensure accessibility for more clients. Guided by a mission to empower women and families, Santa Maria has served Houston since the 1950s, responding to challenges like trauma, housing instability, and justice involvement with care rooted in compassion and community connection.
