Music as a Core Therapeutic Tool

Music is the foundation of this program. Whether through open mic nights, lyrical analysis groups, or shared songwriting, clients use music to process trauma, access emotions, and build connection. This model, deeply integrated into clinical care, helps make therapy more approachable—especially for those who might struggle in talk-based settings. No musical experience is needed, just a willingness to engage creatively.

A Restorative Setting Designed for Comfort

Located in a quiet area just outside Austin, the facility hosts 24 residential clients at a time and fosters a close-knit atmosphere. Clients eat chef-prepared meals and can utilize both indoor and outdoor spaces to relax with peers no matter the weather. Clients can bring qualifying dogs to join them in treatment, adding a layer of emotional comfort rare in residential programs.

Treatment That Balances Structure and Flexibility

The program offers residential detox, inpatient treatment, in-person partial hospitalization program (PHP), and both in-person and virtual intensive outpatient program (IOP). Treatment incorporates individual sessions weekly with a master’s-level clinician. All care is trauma-informed and clients with mental health conditions are supported with dual diagnosis care. For those in IOP treatment, an additional sober living residence is available. This full continuum of support promotes continuity of care for clients.

Beyond Treatment: Life Skills and Long-Term Support

Clients benefit from strong aftercare planning and support. Services include coaching, peer mentoring, outcome follow-up, and career guidance—important components for maintaining progress post-treatment. The musical and emotional community built during treatment gives people a recovery identity to which they can stay connected.

Patient Reviews

Recovery Unplugged Austin Detox receives consistent praise for its compassionate, dedicated staff and supportive, music-driven treatment approach. Many reviewers highlight the facility’s trauma-informed care, individualized treatment plans, and welcoming environment—including pet-friendly policies. The program's emphasis on community continues after discharge through a robust alumni network, which includes ongoing check-ins and social events. Amenities like clean, comfortable rooms, 24/7 nursing staff, and music or art-based therapy add to the positive experience. While most feedback is highly favorable, a few users noted concerns about communication or follow-up practices. Overall, the facility is widely credited with helping clients achieve lasting recovery in a caring, well-equipped setting.
