Women-Centered Recovery for Mothers

CASCADE is a specialized program by Community Alternatives Inc, a nonprofit organization accredited by CARF and licensed by the North Carolina Department of Health. Designed for pregnant and parenting women, CASCADE uses a relational, women-centered treatment model that fosters trust, safety, and empowerment. Clients receive care that strengthens family stability while supporting recovery, with priority admission for pregnant women.

Comprehensive Levels of Care

The Charlotte program offers multiple levels of treatment, including residential, long-term residential, intensive outpatient, and outpatient care. This structure allows clients to move between levels as their recovery progresses, maintaining consistent support throughout. CASCADE also coordinates with external providers for clients using medications for addiction treatment (MAT), helping ensure seamless continuity of care.

Family Support and Real-World Stability

CASCADE removes many of the obstacles women face when entering treatment. Childcare, parenting classes, and residential beds for children make care accessible for mothers. Practical support, including transportation and housing assistance and case management, help women remain engaged in recovery while rebuilding stability at home. Job training and employment counseling promote independence and long-term recovery success.

Evidence-Based, Trauma-Informed Approach

Treatment integrates cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, relapse prevention, anger management, trauma-related counseling, and 12-step facilitation. Clients also receive health and recovery education, including tobacco cessation and overdose prevention. Group and individual counseling build coping skills, connection, and resilience. CASCADE maintains a smoke-free and vape-free environment to promote wellness and safety for clients and their families.
