Intensive outpatient (IOP) substance use and co-occurring mental health care for adults with evening and virtual scheduling options. The program typically lasts about 12 weeks, but treatment length can be adapted to client needs and progress. Care plans involve 12-step work and a mind-body-spirit approach, with activities such as yoga, art, breathing exercises, poetry, and journaling. Sessions are led by Master's-level therapists and certified drug and alcohol counselors. Case managers can help clients find local sober living accommodations when needed. The Camp Recovery Center San Jose Outpatient accepts private insurance, Medi-Cal, TriWest, and self-pay.

Client-centered treatment plans

When treatment begins, clients sit down with a case manager to customize treatment to their own unique needs. Client input is valued in guiding the progression of the program. Along with therapists and counselors, psychiatrists are available to work with clients who have co-occurring mental health conditions. Care staff also work with clients to start planning for discharge from the start of the program, so clients can start preparing for the return to fully independent day-to-day life.

In-person and virtual evening schedules

Sessions are held in the evenings from 6-9 p.m. three days per week. In-person treatment takes place on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, and the virtual track runs on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. This allows clients to attend to their work, life, and education responsibilities during the day and return home or to sober living at night. It also gives virtual clients the opportunity to receive treatment fully from home.

Group and individual therapy

Group therapy is the backbone of the IOP approach. Practical subjects covered during sessions include stages of addiction, stress management, communication, setting healthy boundaries, relapse prevention, anger management, developing positive self-affirmations, and managing post-acute withdrawal. One-on-one sessions with a primary therapist are held approximately once every two weeks.

Long-term recovery support

During the IOP, clients are introduced to a number of peer recovery support options. These can include 12-step meetings, SMART recovery meetings, and abstinence-based LifeRing Secular Recovery. Having this range of options allows clients to choose what works best with their needs and values. The center encourages clients to regularly attend meetings and build long-term peer support networks.
