Inpatient, residential, and outpatient treatment for mental health, substance use, and co-occurring conditions in a home-like environment. One program is offered for adults, and another is adapted for adolescents ages 13–17. The teenage program is based around dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), which addresses behaviors through finding a balance between acceptance and making changes. Teens see an individual therapist twice a week and go to three or four group sessions each day. Academics and support for families are woven into treatment plans. This facility accepts private insurance, TRICARE, and self pay.

Who is this facility a good fit for?

  • Best fit if: Teens ages 13–17 who need mental health or co-occurring substance use treatment; those who need academic support for teens with family programming; want step-down care in one location; have private insurance, TRICARE, or can self pay.
  • Not a fit if: Adolescents who have a substance use disorder but are not looking for mental health treatment; want flexible scheduling or self-directed care; people who want to keep personal smartphones with them during treatment; have Medicaid or are uninsured and unable to self pay.

What to expect

Developing your care plan

  • Assessments: At the beginning of treatment, staff ask clients to complete screening assessments for substance use and mental health history. The results help staff decide on the best level of care for each person.
  • Adapted care: Treatment plans are tailored to individual needs. Clients can also step up or down between care levels as things change and progress evolves.
  • Plan updates: When clients meet with therapists and psychiatrists, care plans can be discussed and updated to fit best with changes to goals and real-time requirements.

Who you will meet with

  • Psychiatrists: Psychiatrists are the clinical leaders of each residential home. Weekly meetings with clients help shape the course of mental health care.
  • Individual therapists: Teens meet with their therapist one-on-one twice every week. This can lead to a closer therapeutic relationship.
  • Residential counselors: These staff members are at the residential houses 24/7 to provide individual support for teens.
  • Nurses: Nursing staff are there to help with any health needs clients may have, and to manage medications.
  • Social workers: Help families with practical needs and case management.

Typical schedule

  • Predictable routines: Treatment is organized according to a fixed daily schedule. Along with set therapy schedules, teens eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner together as a group.
  • Group therapy: Teens go to three or four group sessions every day. Two of these are centered around dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), the primary approach used in the adolescent program.
  • School blocks: Academic blocks are scheduled as an important part of teens’ day. A teacher regularly comes in to help the teens with their schoolwork.
  • Downtime: Most of the day is scheduled, but during free time, teens can go outside to spend time with others, play games, or do creative and fitness activities. Recreational therapy includes music, yoga, and Zumba.
  • Family visitation: Parents can come to visit on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays between about 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. On weekends, visiting hours are held between about 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Wednesdays are usually reserved for family meetings.
  • Phone policy: Personal devices are not allowed; however, teens can use a landline to call their parents.

Aftercare

  • Step-down options: The way the program is set up allows clients to move between inpatient, residential, and outpatient care levels as they are ready.
  • Continuing care: Staff help clients and families with discharge planning. This can involve connections to peer support and self-help groups. Relapse prevention planning is also provided.
