Women's Residential Care in a Homelike Setting

The Women’s Residential Treatment Program at Coras Wellness and Behavioral Health provides intensive live-in care for adult women with chronic substance use concerns and co-occurring mental health conditions. The program is designed for women who are ready to make a change and want a safe, structured place to focus on recovery. Treatment takes place in a homelike environment in Wilmington, where clients can step away from daily pressures and concentrate on healing.

Integrated Treatment for Substance Use And Mental Health

Care begins with comprehensive assessments of substance use, mental health, physical health, and medical history. Clients receive individual, group, and family counseling, along with substance use disorder counseling and mental health services. Treatment approaches include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, relapse prevention work, anger management, trauma-related counseling, the Matrix Model, and 12-step work. Medications for addiction treatment (MAT) and medications for mental health conditions are available.

Support for Trauma and Complex Needs

Programming is adapted for women who may be facing multiple challenges at once. The center serves pregnant and postpartum women, older adults, and women with co-occurring pain and substance use disorders, as well as clients with trauma histories or involvement with the justice system. Medical services include physical exams and testing for HIV, sexually transmitted diseases, tuberculosis, and hepatitis, with education and early intervention for infectious diseases.

Practical Services for Life After Treatment

Beyond clinical care, Coras focuses on the practical pieces that make recovery more stable in everyday life. Case management, housing services, and assistance with obtaining social services help clients work toward safer, more stable living situations. Employment counseling, job training, and vocational or educational support can make it easier to return to work or school. Recovery support services include self-help groups, mentoring and peer support, recovery coaching, and social skills development. The program also provides aftercare and discharge planning, naloxone and overdose education, and follow-up after discharge to support the transition home.
