Williamsville Wellness - Residential Programs
Overview
Settled on a quiet historic estate in the Virginia countryside, Williamsville Wellness Center’s residential programs offer treatment with a heavy focus on individual therapy. Clients receive 15 or more one-on-one therapy sessions each week, so they can truly get to know their caregivers and delve thoroughly into issues underlying substance use. The program also specializes in gambling and impulse disorders, trauma, and co-occurring conditions, and offers veteran-specific care delivered by staff members who are veterans themselves.

Therapy-Heavy Model for Personalized Progress
The center offers more than 15 individual therapy sessions each week—far more than the industry standard. This structure allows clients to work closely with multiple licensed clinicians across different specialties, including trauma, family systems, and co-occurring disorders. Rather than relying on group therapy to carry the bulk of the work, clients engage in daily one-on-one sessions that help uncover patterns, build trust, and address the root causes of substance use and other concerns.
Restorative Setting on a Historic Rural Estate
Williamsville Wellness is located on a 400-acre rural property, offering a peaceful, distraction-free environment for recovery. Clients stay in private rooms and have access to walking trails, outdoor sitting areas, and green space ideal for reflection and mindfulness activities. Nutritious meals are provided daily, and the low census ensures a quiet, personalized experience. The location is akin to a retreat—calm, open, and removed from outside stressors. This setting supports emotional grounding and focus, helping clients reset their routines and begin to rebuild.
Specialized Treatment for Gambling and Impulse Disorders
The center is one of the few residential programs in the country licensed to treat gambling disorders. It also treats other impulse control disorders, such as compulsive shopping, gaming, and internet use. The clinical team includes professionals with decades of experience in these areas, offering structured therapy that addresses both the behavior and its underlying emotional drivers. By treating behavioral addictions alongside substance use, Williamsville helps clients understand how these issues intersect—and build lasting strategies to manage urges, reduce harm, and restore balance in their lives.
Veteran-Specific Care, Led by Veterans
A dedicated track for military veterans is shaped by staff who have served themselves. This shared experience fosters trust and understanding, especially for clients managing trauma, substance use, and the challenges of transitioning to civilian life. Therapy explores the emotional impact of service, including isolation, hypervigilance, and moral injury, while helping veterans reconnect with a sense of purpose. The program also addresses practical concerns like reintegration stress and relationship strain with a focus on trauma-informed care.
Patient Feedback
Patients praise the facility’s uniquely high level of therapist access and the individualized attention they receive. Reviews note the team’s warmth, the calmness of the campus, and the success of its dual-diagnosis and gambling treatment approaches. Many also highlight how being truly heard in therapy made a meaningful difference.
