Men’s Long-Term Residential Program

Lake House is a long-term, non-medical residential program for men operated by Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers in Painesville, Ohio. It serves young adult and adult men who need time and structure to step away from substance use, stabilize, and rebuild their daily lives. The program is designed for longer stays, giving clients space to focus on recovery while planning for life after treatment.

Structured, Home-Like Environment

The facility offers a home-like residential setting. With a small number of beds, clients live in a shared environment where expectations, routines, and support are clear. Lake House is close to public transportation, churches, a YMCA, community 12-step meetings, stores, and social service agencies. Transportation assistance helps clients keep appointments and stay connected to community resources that can support recovery.

Counseling, 12-Step Support, and Medications for Addiction Treatment (MAT)

Clients take part in intensive group therapy, individual counseling, and topical and educational groups. The clinical approach may include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, contingency management, anger management, relapse prevention, trauma-related counseling, substance use counseling, and 12-step facilitation. Lake House integrates clients into community 12-step support groups to help build a peer network that can continue after discharge. Medications for addiction treatment (MAT) are available for substance use and alcohol use, along with medications that support mental health and tobacco cessation.

Life Skills, Work Readiness, and Daily Living Support

Residential counselors work with each client to develop a plan addressing housing, relationships, vocational training, education, and overall physical and emotional health. Life-skills development is central, including independent living skills, money management and budgeting, and social skills development. Workforce preparation and employment counseling or training help clients think about returning to work or school. Case management, assistance with obtaining social services, mentoring and peer support, and housing services all aim to reduce practical barriers that can make recovery harder to maintain.

Family Support, Health Services, and Continuing Care

Family involvement is available through family counseling, outpatient family services, and family groups. Clients receive comprehensive assessments, including mental health and substance use evaluations, medical history, physical exams, and health-focused reviews. Support can include behavioral health services, early intervention for HIV, health education, and overdose prevention, including naloxone education. Aftercare and continuing care, discharge planning, and follow-up after discharge are built into the program to help clients stay connected to support as they transition back into the community.
