Longstanding, Community-Rooted Program in South Dallas
Located on a dedicated treatment campus near the University of North Texas at Dallas, Homeward Bound Inc’s Dallas Residential Treatment Center has served the region for decades. As a nonprofit provider, it offers accessible care for adults with complex substance use and mental health needs, particularly those facing housing instability, financial hardship, or court involvement. The program emphasizes stability, dignity, and connection as essential parts of recovery.
Medically Monitored Detox and Gender-Specific Residential Care
Detox services are available onsite Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with same-day admission on a first-come, first-served basis. The program provides medical monitoring to support safe withdrawal and stabilization. Residential treatment includes 24/7 supervision in gender-specific housing units. Stays typically range from 14 to 90 days, depending on individual needs and clinical recommendations.
Dual Diagnosis Treatment and Medication Support
Treatment addresses both substance use and co-occurring mental health conditions. Services include trauma-informed therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and 12-step facilitation. Medications for addiction treatment (MAT), including buprenorphine, naltrexone, and clonidine, are available onsite. The facility also supports continuity of care for clients already prescribed MAT elsewhere.
Services That Strengthen Stability and Self-Sufficiency
Clients receive help beyond clinical care. The program offers employment readiness support, housing navigation, recovery coaching, and peer mentoring. Life skills groups focus on building confidence, accountability, and the tools needed for post-treatment success. These services help reduce barriers that often undermine long-term recovery, such as unstable housing or lack of income.
Justice Partnerships and Inclusive Access
Homeward Bound partners with courts, hospitals, and community agencies, including jail diversion and veterans courts, to connect individuals with treatment instead of incarceration. The center accepts Medicaid and provides financial assistance for those without insurance. Spanish-language services are available, and the environment is welcoming to individuals of all backgrounds.
Client Reviews
Many clients describe Homeward Bound as a place that gave them the tools, support, and community they needed to start fresh. Several mention lasting personal growth, compassionate staff, and peer connection as highlights. However, some recurring concerns focus on cleanliness, food quality, and administrative inconsistencies.
