Small, residential treatment program for men on a 10-acre Texas ranch

Fire Sky Ranch provides residential substance use treatment for adult men on a 10-acre ranch in Lubbock. It intentionally gives clients more freedom than many residential treatment settings, with a focus on life skills and flexible technology policies. The ranch is designed to be more homelike than clinical. Clients share rooms and have access to a pool, a fitness center, an outdoor lounge, and a theater. There are also opportunities for yoga and other fitness activities and access to nature.

Extensive weekly group therapy and community support based on 12-Step recovery

Clients spend more than 30 hours a week in group therapy alongside individual counseling, trauma therapy, and recovery education. The program also focuses on 12-Step recovery; clients participate in 12-Step meetings both on- and off-site. Clinical therapy helps address the behavioral, emotional, and trauma-related factors connected with substance use, while the 12-Step foundation adds an element of peer support.

Treatment extends to trauma, mental health, and family relationships

Fire Sky treats substance use alongside co-occurring mental health concerns, including trauma, using therapeutic approaches such as eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR). Treatment can also address family relationships through family therapy and couples therapy. The goal is to help clients restore relationships, accountability, and health, rather than addressing substance use alone.

Step-down care options within the same organization

After completing residential care at Fire Sky Ranch, clients can transition to lower levels of care within the broader organization. Aspire Recovery offers a 10-week IOP that meets three evenings per week from 6 to 9 p.m. Clients can step down to this program from the residential program or enter directly into the IOP. Another step-down option is the Lodge, a large, upscale sober living home located in South Lubbock. The residential and outpatient programs come together every Wednesday night, when the residential clients cook a big meal for the outpatient clients, and everyone shares the meal to help build connections and show clients that recovery is possible.
