What to expect

Developing your care plan

• Initial assessment and review: Clients first meet with their primary therapist for a biopsychosocial assessment and review of their personal and treatment history. The therapist uses this information, including what has and hasn’t worked in the past and the client’s wants, needs, and goals, to build the initial care plan.
• Various approaches: Treatment includes various approaches to care, addressing both substance use and co-occurring mental health conditions. Trauma-informed treatment addresses underlying factors that may be connected to substance use. Traditional evidence-based approaches, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), may be used alongside recreational and art therapy and coping-skills development.

Who you will meet with

• Primary therapist: Performs the initial assessment and creates the client’s treatment plan. The primary therapist is also the primary point of contact for family visits and updates.
• Recovery coach: Recovery coaches provide recovery-focused support and accountability during treatment. They can also remain a source of support afterward.
• Psychiatrist: A psychiatrist evaluates clients' psychiatric needs. They can prescribe or adjust medications when clinically appropriate.
• Physician: A physician provides medical care and oversight as needed.

Typical schedule

• Partial hospitalization program options: The PHP schedule is Monday to Friday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. As clients progress, they step down into lower levels of care.
• Intensive outpatient program: There are two IOP options: a higher-frequency option, which is Monday to Friday, 9 a.m.-12 p.m., and a step-down option, which is three days per week from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Clients can choose the days that work best for their schedule.

Living experiences and amenities

• Practical support for transitioning out of treatment: A computer lab and career resources are available to help clients with job searches, résumé preparation, and basic employment skills.
• Sober living options: Supportive housing is available alongside outpatient care while in PHP, and clients may be able to continue living there during IOP. This provides a recovery-focused place to live with daily routines, accountability, and peer support.

Aftercare
