Collaborative Therapies and Family Involvement
Each teen undergoes an in-depth assessment that informs an adapted treatment plan for their specific needs. Care integrates evidence-based therapies such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and attachment-based family therapy. Parents participate in focused therapy sessions and support groups, helping the whole family strengthen communication and stability at home.
Outdoor Adventures and Creative Therapy
Treatment extends beyond the therapy room through experiential approaches that encourage confidence and resilience. Teens can take part in adventures such as group visits to parks, canyons, and beaches. Creative therapies include music and art, and mindfulness activities such as yoga, and meditation are offered to promote balance and awareness. These activities offer structured opportunities for teamwork, personal reflection, and practicing healthy coping skills in real-world settings.
Academic Instruction and Life Skills
Education is a core part of treatment plans. On-site teachers and tutors provide individualized instruction, GED preparation, and college application support to ensure that students stay on track academically. Lesson plans are informed by assessments, school transcripts, and consultation with parents. Tutoring, test preparation, and adapted learning plans help students move toward graduation or college readiness. Teens also receive vocational training and life skills support such as managing technology use.
Aftercare Planning and Alumni Program
Care staff help clients and families build aftercare plans adapted to teens’ specific needs before they are discharged. These may include additional help with school and referrals to community resources. Teens and families often continue therapy sessions supported by ongoing contact with Newport Academy clinicians. The Alumni Program provides teens with access to in-person gatherings and family workshops.
